1 Orð Drottins, sem kom til Míka frá Móreset á dögum Jótams, Akasar og Hiskía, Júdakonunga, það er honum vitraðist um Samaríu og Jerúsalem.
2 Heyrið, allir lýðir! Hlusta þú, jörð, og allt sem á þér er! Og Drottinn Guð veri vottur gegn yður, Drottinn frá sínu heilaga musteri.
3 Sjá, Drottinn mun út fara frá bústað sínum, mun ofan stíga og ganga eftir hæðum jarðarinnar.
4 Fjöllin munu bráðna undan honum og dalirnir klofna sem vax fyrir eldi, sem vatn, er steypist ofan bratta hlíð.
5 Og allt þetta sakir misgjörðar Jakobs og sakir syndar Ísraels húss. Hver er þá misgjörð Jakobs? Er það ekki Samaría? Og hver er synd Júda? Er það ekki Jerúsalem?
6 Ég gjöri því Samaríu að grjótrúst á víðavangi, að gróðurekru undir víngarða, og velti steinum hennar ofan í dalinn og læt sjást í beran grundvöllinn.
7 Öll skurðgoð hennar skulu sundur brotin verða og allar helgigjafir hennar í eldi brenndar, og öll guðalíkneski hennar vil ég framselja til eyðingar, því að hún hefir dregið þær saman úr hórgjöldum, og að hórgjöldum skulu þær aftur verða.
8 Vegna þessa vil ég harma og kveina, ganga berfættur og skikkjulaus, telja mér harmatölur eins og sjakalarnir og halda sorgarkvein eins og strútsfuglarnir.
9 Því að ólæknandi eru sár hennar. Já, það kemur allt til Júda, nær allt að hliðum þjóðar minnar, allt að Jerúsalem.
10 Segið ekki frá því í Gat, grátið ekki hátt! Veltið yður í duftinu í Betleafra!
11 Gangið fram smánarlega naktir, þér íbúar Safír! Íbúarnir í Saanan voga sér ekki út, harmakveinið í Bet Haesel aftrar yður frá að staðnæmast þar.
12 Því að íbúar Marót eru kvíðandi um sinn hag, já, ógæfa stígur niður frá Drottni allt að hliðum Jerúsalem.
13 Beitið gæðingum fyrir vagnana, þér íbúar Lakís! Í þeirri borg kom fyrst upp synd dótturinnar Síon; já, hjá yður fundust misgjörðir Ísraels.
14 Fyrir því verður þú að segja skilið við Móreset Gat. Húsin í Aksíb reynast Ísraelskonungum svikul.
15 Enn læt ég sigurvegarann yfir yður koma, þér íbúar Maresa. Tignarmenni Ísraels munu komast allt til Adúllam.
16 Raka hár þitt og skegg vegna þinna ástfólgnu barna, gjör skalla þinn breiðan sem á gammi, því að þau verða að fara hernumin burt frá þér.

1 The word of the Lord that came to Micah of Moresheth(A) during the reigns of Jotham,(B) Ahaz(C) and Hezekiah,(D) kings of Judah(E)—the vision(F) he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.
2 Hear,(G) you peoples, all of you,(H)
listen, earth(I) and all who live in it,
that the Sovereign Lord may bear witness(J) against you,
the Lord from his holy temple.(K)
Judgment Against Samaria and Jerusalem
3 Look! The Lord is coming from his dwelling(L) place;
he comes down(M) and treads on the heights of the earth.(N)
4 The mountains melt(O) beneath him(P)
and the valleys split apart,(Q)
like wax before the fire,
like water rushing down a slope.
5 All this is because of Jacob’s transgression,
because of the sins of the people of Israel.
What is Jacob’s transgression?
Is it not Samaria?(R)
What is Judah’s high place?
Is it not Jerusalem?
6 “Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble,
a place for planting vineyards.(S)
I will pour her stones(T) into the valley
and lay bare her foundations.(U)
7 All her idols(V) will be broken to pieces;(W)
all her temple gifts will be burned with fire;
I will destroy all her images.(X)
Since she gathered her gifts from the wages of prostitutes,(Y)
as the wages of prostitutes they will again be used.”
Weeping and Mourning
8 Because of this I will weep(Z) and wail;
I will go about barefoot(AA) and naked.
I will howl like a jackal
and moan like an owl.
9 For Samaria’s plague(AB) is incurable;(AC)
it has spread to Judah.(AD)
It has reached the very gate(AE) of my people,
even to Jerusalem itself.
10 Tell it not in Gath[a];
weep not at all.
In Beth Ophrah[b]
roll in the dust.
11 Pass by naked(AF) and in shame,
you who live in Shaphir.[c]
Those who live in Zaanan[d]
will not come out.
Beth Ezel is in mourning;
it no longer protects you.
12 Those who live in Maroth[e] writhe in pain,
waiting for relief,(AG)
because disaster(AH) has come from the Lord,
even to the gate of Jerusalem.
13 You who live in Lachish,(AI)
harness fast horses to the chariot.
You are where the sin of Daughter Zion(AJ) began,
for the transgressions of Israel were found in you.
14 Therefore you will give parting gifts(AK)
to Moresheth(AL) Gath.
The town of Akzib[f](AM) will prove deceptive(AN)
to the kings of Israel.
15 I will bring a conqueror against you
who live in Mareshah.[g](AO)
The nobles of Israel
will flee to Adullam.(AP)
16 Shave(AQ) your head in mourning
for the children in whom you delight;
make yourself as bald as the vulture,
for they will go from you into exile.(AR)

1 The word of the Lord that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.
2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.
4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.
5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?
6 Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.
7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.
8 Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls.
9 For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
10 Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.
11 Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel; he shall receive of you his standing.
12 For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the Lord unto the gate of Jerusalem.
13 O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee.
14 Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel.
15 Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.
16 Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.
