Câu chuyện về Con Thượng Đế(A)
12 Chúa Giê-xu dùng ngụ ngôn để dạy dỗ dân chúng. Ngài kể, “Người kia có một vườn nho. Ông xây tường chung quanh và đào một lỗ để đặt máy ép rượu, đồng thời xây một cái tháp canh. Sau đó ông cho một số tá điền thuê, rồi lên đường đi xa. 2 Đến mùa hái nho, chủ vườn sai một đầy tớ đến gặp các tá điền để thu hoa lợi. 3 Nhưng bọn tá điền bắt đầy tớ, đánh đập rồi đuổi về tay không. 4 Ông chủ liền sai một đầy tớ khác. Chúng đập đầu và nhục mạ người đầy tớ nầy. 5 Ông chủ sai một đầy tớ nữa đến, thì chúng giết chết. Ông chủ lại sai thêm nhiều đầy tớ khác nữa đến, thì chúng đánh người nầy, giết người nọ.
6 Sau cùng ông chủ chỉ còn có một người có thể sai được, đó là con trai yêu dấu của mình. Ông sai con đi và nghĩ bụng, ‘Có lẽ chúng nó sẽ nể con ta.’
7 Nhưng bọn tá điền bàn nhau, ‘Thằng nầy sẽ thừa hưởng vườn nho. Nếu chúng ta giết nó thì vườn nho sẽ thuộc về chúng ta.’ 8 Cho nên chúng bắt đứa con, giết chết rồi ném xác ra ngoài vườn nho.
9 Thế thì ông chủ vườn nho sẽ đối xử với bọn tá điền ấy ra sao? Ông ta sẽ đến giết hết bọn ấy rồi giao vườn nho cho người khác. 10 Chắc hẳn các ông đã đọc lời Thánh Kinh:
‘Tảng đá bị thợ xây nhà loại bỏ,
lại trở thành đá góc nhà.
11 Đó là điều Chúa làm
và quả thật là kỳ diệu đối với chúng ta.’” (B)
12 Các lãnh tụ Do-thái hiểu ngay là ngụ ngôn ấy ám chỉ họ. Họ muốn bắt Chúa Giê-xu nhưng sợ dân chúng, nên bỏ đi.
Có nên đóng thuế hay không?(C)
13 Sau đó họ cho vài người Pha-ri-xi và đảng viên Hê-rốt đến gặp Chúa Giê-xu để gài bẫy Ngài trong lời nói. 14 Họ đến cùng Ngài và hỏi, “Thưa thầy, chúng tôi biết thầy là người chân thật. Thầy không cần biết người ta nghĩ gì về mình, vì thầy không đánh giá bề ngoài của họ. Thầy luôn luôn dạy sự thật theo đường lối của Thượng Đế. Xin thầy vui lòng cho biết: Chúng ta có nên đóng thuế cho Xê-xa không? Chúng ta nên đóng hay không nên đóng?”
15 Biết ác ý của họ nên Chúa Giê-xu bảo “Sao các ông tìm cách đánh bẫy ta? Đưa ta xem một đồng tiền.” 16 Họ chìa ra cho Ngài xem một đồng tiền. Ngài hỏi, “Hình và danh hiệu trên đồng tiền nầy là của ai?” Họ đáp, “Của Xê-xa.”
17 Chúa Giê-xu bảo họ, “Nếu thế thì cái gì của Xê-xa hãy trả lại cho Xê-xa, còn cái gì của Thượng Đế hãy trả lại cho Thượng Đế.” Bọn họ rất kinh ngạc về điều Chúa Giê-xu nói.
Người Xa-đu-xê tìm cách gài bẫy Chúa Giê-xu(D)
18 Lúc ấy có mấy người Xa-đu-xê đến gặp Chúa Giê-xu. Người Xa-đu-xê không tin có sự sống lại từ trong kẻ chết. 19 Họ hỏi, “Thưa thầy, Mô-se viết rằng nếu người nào có anh qua đời để vợ lại không con, thì người em trai phải lấy chị dâu góa ấy để sinh con nối dòng cho anh mình. 20 Trong chuyện nầy có bảy anh em. Người anh cả lấy vợ rồi chết không con. 21 Người em thứ hai lấy chị dâu góa ấy. Nhưng người em cũng chết không con. Đến lượt người em thứ ba cũng vậy. 22 Bảy người đều lấy người đàn bà ấy rồi qua đời nhưng không ai có con. Sau cùng người đàn bà cũng chết. 23 Thế thì đến ngày sống lại, chị ấy sẽ là vợ của ai vì tất cả bảy người đều đã lấy chị ta?”
24 Chúa Giê-xu đáp, “Các ông lầm vì không hiểu lời Thánh Kinh cũng không hiểu quyền năng của Thượng Đế. 25 Khi người ta sống lại từ trong kẻ chết thì chẳng còn cưới gả gì nữa vì ai nấy đều giống như thiên sứ trên trời vậy. 26 Còn về những người sống lại từ trong kẻ chết thì các ông chưa đọc trong quyển sách Mô-se viết về bụi cây cháy [a] sao? Trong đó ghi lời Thượng Đế phán với Mô-se, ‘Ta là Thượng Đế của Áp-ra-ham, Y-sác và Gia cốp.’ [b] 27 Thượng Đế là Thượng Đế của người sống chứ không phải của người chết. Các ông lầm to rồi!”
Mệnh lệnh quan trọng nhất(E)
28 Một trong các giáo sư luật đến nghe Chúa Giê-xu biện luận với người Xa-đu-xê. Khi thấy Ngài khéo trả lời câu hỏi của họ, ông mới hỏi Ngài, “Trong tất cả các mệnh lệnh, điều nào quan trọng nhất?”
29 Chúa Giê-xu đáp, “Mệnh lệnh quan trọng nhất như sau: ‘Toàn dân Ít-ra-en nghe đây! Thượng Đế, Chúa chúng ta chỉ có một mà thôi. 30 Ngươi phải hết lòng, hết linh hồn, hết trí, hết sức mà yêu mến Ngài.’ [c] 31 Còn điều thứ nhì như sau, ‘Ngươi hãy yêu thương người láng giềng như mình vậy.’ [d] Không có mệnh lệnh nào quan trọng hơn hai điều đó.”
32 Giáo sư ấy thưa, “Thưa thầy, thầy đáp đúng vì Thượng Đế là Chúa duy nhất, ngoài Ngài không có Chúa nào khác. 33 Mọi người phải hết lòng, hết trí, hết sức mà yêu mến Ngài. Và rằng ai cũng phải yêu người láng giềng như mình. Hai mệnh lệnh đó quan trọng hơn tất cả những sinh tế và của lễ.”
34 Thấy ông ta trả lời khôn ngoan như thế, Ngài bảo, “Ông hiện rất gần với Nước Trời.” Sau đó, không ai dám hỏi Ngài câu nào nữa.
Chúa Cứu Thế là con hay Chúa của vua Đa-vít?(F)
35 Khi đang dạy dỗ trong đền thờ thì Chúa Giê-xu hỏi, “Tại sao các giáo sư luật bảo Chúa Cứu Thế là con vua Đa-vít? 36 Chính Đa-vít cảm nhận Thánh Linh và nói rằng:
‘Thượng Đế nói cùng Chúa tôi:
Con hãy ngồi bên hữu ta,
cho đến khi ta đặt kẻ thù của
con dưới quyền quản trị [e] của con.’ (G)
37 Nếu Đa-vít gọi Đấng Cứu Thế là Chúa thì làm sao Ngài là con vua ấy được?” Đoàn dân rất thích nghe Ngài.
Chúa Giê-xu chỉ trích các giáo sư luật(H)
38 Chúa Giê-xu tiếp tục dạy dỗ nữa. Ngài bảo, “Hãy thận trọng về các giáo sư luật. Họ thích mặc áo quần sang trọng đi dạo phố, muốn người ta kính cẩn chào mình giữa chợ. 39 Họ ưa ngồi chỗ cao trọng nhất trong hội đường và các đám tiệc. 40 Nhưng họ cướp đoạt nhà cửa của các đàn bà góa mà làm bộ đạo mạo bằng cách đọc lời cầu nguyện cho dài. Họ sẽ bị trừng phạt nặng hơn.”
Sự dâng hiến thật(I)
41 Chúa Giê-xu ngồi gần hộp dâng hiến [f] trong đền thờ để xem người ta bỏ tiền vào. Lắm người giàu bỏ vào thật nhiều tiền. 42 Rồi có một góa phụ nghèo bước đến bỏ vào hai đồng tiền chỉ đáng vài xu.
43 Chúa Giê-xu gọi các môn đệ lại bảo rằng, “Ta bảo thật, bà góa nghèo nầy đã dâng nhiều hơn tất cả những người giàu kia. 44 Vì họ dâng phần dư của họ, nhưng bà góa nầy tuy rất nghèo túng nhưng đã dâng hết của mình có, là của để nuôi thân.”

The Parable of the Tenants(A)
12 Jesus then began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard.(B) He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. 2 At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. 5 He sent still another, and that one they killed. He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed.
6 “He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all,(C) saying, ‘They will respect my son.’
7 “But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ 8 So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.
9 “What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others. 10 Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture:
“‘The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;(D)
11 the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’[a]?”(E)
12 Then the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd;(F) so they left him and went away.(G)
Paying the Imperial Tax to Caesar(H)
13 Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians(I) to Jesus to catch him(J) in his words. 14 They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax[b] to Caesar or not? 15 Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”
But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” 16 They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”
“Caesar’s,” they replied.
17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”(K)
And they were amazed at him.
Marriage at the Resurrection(L)
18 Then the Sadducees,(M) who say there is no resurrection,(N) came to him with a question. 19 “Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.(O) 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died without leaving any children. 21 The second one married the widow, but he also died, leaving no child. It was the same with the third. 22 In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too. 23 At the resurrection[c] whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?”
24 Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures(P) or the power of God? 25 When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.(Q) 26 Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’[d]?(R) 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”
The Greatest Commandment(S)
28 One of the teachers of the law(T) came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[f](U) 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[g](V) There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.(W) 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”(X)
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”(Y) And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.(Z)
Whose Son Is the Messiah?(AA)(AB)
35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts,(AC) he asked, “Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David?(AD) 36 David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit,(AE) declared:
37 David himself calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?”
The large crowd(AG) listened to him with delight.
Warning Against the Teachers of the Law
38 As he taught, Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, 39 and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.(AH) 40 They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”
The Widow’s Offering(AI)
41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put(AJ) and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”(AK)

12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

12 Och han begynte tala till dem i liknelser: »En man planterade en vingård och satte stängsel däromkring och högg ut ett presskar och byggde ett vakttorn; därefter lejde han ut den åt vingårdsmän och for utrikes.
2 När sedan rätta tiden var inne, sände han en tjänare till vingårdsmännen, för att denne av vingårdsmännen skulle uppbära någon del av vingårdens frukt.
3 Men de togo fatt på honom och misshandlade honom och läto honom gå tomhänt tillbaka.
4 Åter sände han till dem en annan tjänare. Honom slogo de i huvudet och skymfade.
5 Sedan sände han åstad ännu en annan, men denne dräpte de. Likaså gjorde de med många andra: somliga misshandlade de, och andra dräpte de.
6 Nu hade han ock en enda son, vilken han älskade. Honom sände han slutligen åstad till dem, ty han tänkte: 'De skola väl hava försyn för min son.'
7 Men vingårdsmännen sade till varandra: 'Denne är arvingen; kom, låt oss dräpa honom, så bliver arvet vårt.'
8 Och de togo fatt på honom och dräpte honom och kastade honom ut ur vingården. --
9 Vad skall nu vingårdens herre göra? Jo, han skall komma och förgöra vingårdsmännen och lämna vingården åt andra.
10 Haven I icke läst detta skriftens ord: 'Den sten som byggningsmännen förkastade, den har blivit en hörnsten;
11 av Herren har den blivit detta, och underbar är den i våra ögon'?»
12 De hade nu gärna velat gripa honom, men de fruktade för folket; ty de förstodo att det var om dem som han hade talat i denna liknelse. Så läto de honom vara och gingo sin väg.
13 Därefter sände de till honom några fariséer och herodianer, för att dessa skulle fånga honom genom något hans ord.
14 Dessa kommo nu och sade till honom: »Mästare, vi veta att du är sannfärdig och icke frågar efter någon, ty du ser icke till personen, utan lär om Guds väg vad sant är. Är det lovligt att giva kejsaren skatt, eller är det icke lovligt? Skola vi giva skatt, eller icke giva?»
15 Men han förstod deras skrymteri och sade till dem: »Varför söken I att snärja mig? Tagen hit en penning, så att jag får se den.»
16 Då lämnade de fram en sådan. Därefter frågade han dem: »Vems bild och överskrift är detta?» De svarade honom: »Kejsarens.»
17 Då sade Jesus till dem: »Så given kejsaren vad kejsaren tillhör, och Gud vad Gud tillhör.» Och de förundrade sig högeligen över honom.
18 Sedan kommo till honom några av sadducéerna, vilka mena att det icke gives någon uppståndelse. Dessa frågade honom och sade:
19 »Mästare, Moses har givit oss den föreskriften, att om någon har en broder som dör, och som efterlämnar hustru, men icke lämnar barn efter sig, så skall han taga sin broders hustru till äkta och skaffa avkomma åt sin broder.
20 Nu voro här sju bröder. Den förste tog sig en hustru, men dog utan att lämna någon avkomma efter sig.
21 Då tog den andre i ordningen henne, men också han dog utan att lämna någon avkomma efter sig; sammalunda den tredje.
22 Så skedde med alla sju: ingen av dem lämnade någon avkomma efter sig. Sist av alla dog ock hustrun.
23 Vilken av dem skall nu vid uppståndelsen, när de uppstå, få henne till hustru? De hade ju alla sju tagit henne till hustru.»
24 Jesus svarade dem: »Visar icke eder fråga att I faren vilse och varken förstån skrifterna, ej heller Guds kraft?
25 Efter uppståndelsen från de döda taga män sig icke hustrur, ej heller givas hustrur åt män, utan de äro då såsom änglarna i himmelen.
26 Men vad nu det angår, att de döda uppstå, haven I icke läst i Moses' bok, på det ställe där det talas om törnbusken, huru Gud sade till honom så: 'Jag är Abrahams Gud och Isaks Gud och Jakobs Gud'?
27 Han är en Gud icke för döda, utan för levande. I faren mycket vilse.»
28 Då trädde en av de skriftlärde fram, en som hade hört deras ordskifte och förstått att han hade svarat dem väl. Denne frågade honom: »Vilket är det förnämsta av alla buden?»
29 Jesus svarade: »Det förnämsta är detta: 'Hör, Israel! Herren, vår Gud, Herren är en.
30 Och du skall älska Herren, din Gud, av allt ditt hjärta och av all din själ och av allt ditt förstånd och av all din kraft.'
31 Därnäst kommer detta: 'Du skall älska din nästa såsom dig själv.' Intet annat bud är större än dessa.»
32 Då svarade den skriftlärde honom: »Mästare, du har i sanning rätt i vad du säger, att han är en, och att ingen annan är än han.
33 Och att älska honom av allt sitt hjärta och av allt sitt förstånd och av all sin kraft och att älska sin nästa såsom sig själv, det är 'förmer än alla brännoffer och slaktoffer'.»
34 Då nu Jesus märkte att han hade svarat förståndigt, sade han till honom: »Du är icke långt ifrån Guds rike.» Sedan dristade sig ingen att vidare ställa någon fråga på honom.
35 Medan Jesus undervisade i helgedomen, framställde han denna fråga: »Huru kunna de skriftlärde säga att Messias är Davids son?
36 David själv har ju sagt genom den helige Andes ingivelse: 'Herren sade till min herre: Sätt dig på min högra sida, till dess jag har lagt dina fiender dig till en fotapall.'
37 Så kallar nu David själv honom 'herre'; huru kan han då vara hans son?» Och folkskarorna hörde honom gärna.
38 Och han undervisade dem och sade till dem: »Tagen eder till vara för de skriftlärde, som gärna gå omkring i fotsida kläder och gärna vilja bliva hälsade på torgen
39 och gärna sitta främst i synagogorna och på de främsta platserna vid gästabuden --
40 detta under det att de utsuga änkors hus, medan de för syns skull hålla långa böner. De skola få en dess hårdare dom.»
41 Och han satte sig mitt emot offerkistorna och såg huru folket lade ned penningar i offerkistorna. Och många rika lade dit mycket.
42 Men en fattig änka kom och lade ned två skärvar, det är ett öre.
43 Då kallade han sina lärjungar till sig och sade till dem: »Sannerligen säger jag eder: Denna fattiga änka lade dit mer än alla de andra som lade något i offerkistorna.
44 Ty dessa lade alla dit av sitt överflöd, men hon lade dit av sitt armod allt vad hon hade, så mycket som fanns i hennes ägo.»
