Chúa Giê-xu vào thành Giê-ru-sa-lem như một Hoàng Đế(A)
11 Khi Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ gần tới thành Giê-ru-sa-lem thì đến các thị trấn Bết-phát và Bê-tha-ni, gần núi Ô-liu. Từ đó, Ngài bảo hai môn đệ đi 2 và dặn, “Đi đến thị trấn trước mặt các con. Vừa khi vào thành, các con sẽ thấy một con lừa con đang cột, chưa có ai cỡi. Tháo nó ra dắt về đây cho ta. 3 Nếu có ai hỏi tại sao làm như thế, thì bảo họ là Chúa cần nó và Ngài sẽ trả lại ngay.”
4 Họ đi và thấy một con lừa con đang cột bên đường, gần cửa một căn nhà, liền tháo ra. 5 Có mấy người đứng đó hỏi, “Mấy ông mở lừa con ra làm gì thế?” 6 Các môn đệ trả lời theo như Chúa Giê-xu dặn, thì họ liền để cho đi. 7 Họ mang lừa con về cho Chúa Giê-xu, lấy áo trải trên lưng lừa, rồi Chúa Giê-xu cỡi lên. 8 Nhiều người trải áo mình trên mặt đường. Kẻ khác chặt nhánh cây trong đồng và trải trên đường. 9 Dân chúng kẻ trước người sau hô lên,
10 Phúc cho nước sắp đến của tổ tiên chúng ta là Đa-vít!
Tung hô Thượng Đế trên trời cao!”
11 Chúa Giê-xu đến thành Giê-ru-sa-lem và đi vào đền thờ. Sau khi xem qua mọi việc, Ngài trở về làng Bê-tha-ni với mười hai môn đệ vì lúc ấy đã sập tối.
Chúa Giê-xu quở cây vả(C)
12 Hôm sau, khi Chúa Giê-xu rời làng Bê-tha-ni thì Ngài đói. 13 Thấy một cây vả có lá ở đàng xa, Ngài đến gần xem thử có trái không, nhưng chẳng thấy, chỉ có lá thôi, vì lúc ấy chưa phải mùa vả. 14 Chúa Giê-xu liền bảo cây vả, “Sẽ không có ai ăn trái của mầy nữa.” Các môn đệ đều nghe lời ấy.
Chúa Giê-xu vào đền thờ(D)
15 Lúc trở lại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, Chúa Giê-xu đi vào đền thờ và đuổi những người buôn bán ở đó. Ngài lật đổ bàn của những kẻ đổi tiền và hất ghế của những người bán bồ câu. 16 Ngài không cho phép ai mang hàng bán qua sân đền thờ. 17 Rồi Ngài dạy dân chúng, “Có phải Thánh Kinh viết rằng ‘Đền thờ ta sẽ được gọi là nhà nguyện cho muôn dân [b] không?’ Nhưng các ngươi biến nơi nầy thành ‘sào huyệt lũ cướp.’” [c]
18 Các giới trưởng tế và các giáo sư luật nghe thế liền tìm cách giết Chúa Giê-xu. Nhưng họ sợ Ngài vì dân chúng rất ham thích lời dạy dỗ của Ngài. 19 Chiều hôm ấy Chúa Giê-xu cùng các môn đệ rời thành.
Quyền năng của đức tin(E)
20 Sáng hôm sau khi Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đi ngang qua thì thấy cây vả đã chết khô tận rễ. 21 Phia-rơ nhớ lại chuyện liền thưa với Ngài, “Thầy xem kìa. Cây vả thầy rủa, bây giờ chết khô rồi!”
22 Chúa Giê-xu bảo họ, “Các con hãy có lòng tin nơi Thượng Đế. 23 Ta bảo thật, ai bảo hòn núi nầy, ‘Hãy bứng lên và nhào xuống biển đi!’ Nếu người ấy không có gì ngờ vực trong lòng, nhưng tin chắc điều mình nói sẽ thành sự thật, thì việc ấy sẽ xảy ra. 24 Nên ta bảo các con, hãy tin rằng mình đã nhận được điều mình khẩn xin trong khi cầu nguyện, thì sẽ nhận được điều ấy. 25 Khi đang đứng cầu nguyện, nếu các con có điều gì nghịch với người nào thì hãy tha thứ họ, để Cha các con trên trời cũng tha tội cho các con.” 26 [d]
Các nhà cầm quyền nghi ngờ quyền năng của Chúa Giê-xu(F)
27 Chúa Giê-xu cùng các môn đệ trở lại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem. Trong khi Ngài đang đi dạo trong đền thờ, thì các giới trưởng tế, các giáo sư luật và các bô lão đến gặp Ngài. 28 Họ hỏi, “Thầy lấy quyền ở đâu mà làm những điều nầy? Ai cho thầy quyền ấy?”
29 Chúa Giê-xu đáp, “Tôi cũng hỏi các ông một câu. Nếu các ông trả lời được, tôi sẽ nói cho các ông biết quyền của tôi đến từ đâu. 30 Các ông hãy cho tôi biết: Lễ báp-têm của Giăng đến từ trời hay từ người?”
31 Họ bàn nhau về câu hỏi của Ngài như thế nầy, “Nếu chúng ta trả lời, ‘Lễ báp-têm của Giăng đến từ trời,’ thì ông ta sẽ hỏi ‘Thế tại sao các ông không tin ông ấy?’ 32 Nhưng nếu chúng ta nói, ‘Lễ ấy đến từ người,’ thì dân chúng sẽ phản đối chúng ta.” Các nhà cầm quyền nầy sợ dân chúng, vì ai cũng tin rằng Giăng là một nhà tiên tri.
33 Nên họ trả lời với Chúa Giê-xu “Chúng tôi không biết.”
Chúa Giê-xu bảo họ, “Tôi cũng không nói cho các ông biết tôi lấy quyền năng nào mà làm những việc nầy.”

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King(A)(B)
11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany(C) at the Mount of Olives,(D) Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden.(E) Untie it and bring it here. 3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway.(F) As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Hosanna![a]”
10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”(H)
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.(I)
Jesus Curses a Fig Tree and Clears the Temple Courts(J)(K)(L)
12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.(M) 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.
15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’[c]?(N) But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[d]”(O)
18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him,(P) because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.(Q)
19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples[e] went out of the city.(R)
20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. 21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi,(S) look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”
22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[f] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.(T) 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.(U) 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”(V) [26] [g]
The Authority of Jesus Questioned(W)
27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. 28 “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?”
29 Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 30 John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!”
31 They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ 32 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)(X)
33 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”
Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”

11 And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,
2 And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.
3 And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.
4 And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.
5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?
6 And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.
7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.
8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:
10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
19 And when even was come, he went out of the city.
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
27 And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,
28 And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?
29 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
30 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.
31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.
33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

2 och sade till dem: »Gån in i byn som ligger mitt framför eder, så skolen I, strax då I kommen ditin, finna en åsnefåle stå där bunden, som ännu ingen människa har suttit på; lösen den och fören den hit.
3 Och om någon frågar eder varför I gören detta, så skolen I svara: 'Herren behöver den, men han skall strax sända den tillbaka hit.»
4 Då gingo de åstad och funno en åsnefåle stå där bunden utanför en port vid vägen, och de löste den.
5 Och några som stodo där bredvid sade till dem: »Vad gören I? Varför lösen I fålen?»
6 Men de svarade dem såsom Jesus hade bjudit. Då lät man dem vara.
7 Och de förde fålen till Jesus och lade sina mantlar på den, och han satte sig upp på den.
8 Och många bredde ut sina mantlar på vägen, andra åter skuro av kvistar och löv på fälten och strödde på vägen.
9 Och de som gingo före och de som följde efter ropade: »Hosianna! Välsignad vare han som kommer, i Herrens namn.
10 Välsignat vare vår fader Davids rike, som nu kommer. Hosianna i höjden!»
11 Så drog han in i Jerusalem och kom in i helgedomen; och när han hade sett sig omkring överallt och det redan var sent på dagen, gick han med de tolv ut till Betania.
12 När de dagen därefter voro på väg tillbaka från Betania, blev han hungrig.
13 Och då han på avstånd fick se ett fikonträd som hade löv, gick han dit för att se om han till äventyrs skulle finna något därpå; men när han kom fram till det, fann han intet annat än löv, det var icke då fikonens tid.
14 Då talade han och sade till trädet: »Aldrig någonsin mer äte någon frukt av dig.» Och hans lärjungar hörde detta.
15 När de sedan kommo fram till Jerusalem, gick han in i helgedomen och begynte driva ut dem som sålde och köpte i helgedomen. Och han stötte omkull växlarnas bord och duvomånglarnas säten;
16 han tillstadde icke heller att man bar någonting genom helgedomen.
17 Och han undervisade dem och sade: »Det är ju skrivet: 'Mitt hus skall kallas ett bönehus för alla folk.' Men I haven gjort det till en rövarkula.»
18 Då översteprästerna och de skriftlärde fingo höra härom, sökte de efter tillfälle att förgöra honom; ty de fruktade för honom, eftersom allt folket häpnade över hans undervisning.
19 När det blev afton, begåvo de sig ut ur staden.
20 Men då de nu på morgonen åter gingo där fram, fingo de se fikonträdet vara förtorkat ända från roten.
21 Då kom Petrus ihåg vad som hade skett och sade till honom: »Rabbi, se, fikonträdet som du förbannade är förtorkat.»
22 Jesus svarade och sade till dem: »Haven tro på Gud.
23 Sannerligen säger jag eder: Om någon säger till detta berg: 'Häv dig upp, och kasta dig i havet' och därvid icke tvivlar i sitt hjärta, utan tror att det han säger skall ske, då skall det ske honom så.
24 Därför säger jag eder: Allt vad I bedjen om och begären, tron att det är eder givet; och det skall ske eder så.
25 Och när I stån och bedjen, så förlåten, om I haven något emot någon, för att också eder Fader, som är i himmelen, må förlåta eder edra försyndelser.»
26 27 Så kommo de åter till Jerusalem. Och medan han gick omkring i helgedomen, kommo översteprästerna och de skriftlärde och de äldste fram till honom;
28 och de sade till honom: »Med vad myndighet gör du detta? Och vem har givit dig myndighet att göra detta?»
29 Jesus svarade dem: »Jag vill ställa en fråga till eder; svaren mig på den, så skall ock jag säga eder med vad myndighet jag gör detta.
30 Johannes' döpelse, var den från himmelen eller från människor? Svaren mig härpå.»
31 Då överlade de med varandra och sade: »Om vi svara: 'Från himmelen', så frågar han: 'Varför trodden I honom då icke?'
32 Eller skola vi svara: 'Från människor'?» -- det vågade de icke av fruktan för folket, ty alla höllo före att Johannes verkligen var en profet.
33 De svarade alltså Jesus och sade: »Vi veta det icke.» Då sade Jesus till dem: »Så säger icke heller jag eder med vad myndighet jag gör detta.»
