Jesus Appears to His Disciples(A)
36 (B)Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen (C)a spirit. 38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. (D)Handle Me and see, for a (E)spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
40 [a]When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 But while they still did not believe (F)for joy, and marveled, He said to them, (G)“Have you any food here?” 42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish [b]and some honeycomb. 43 (H)And He took it and ate in their presence.

4 (E)Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; (F)but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, (G)“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say:
(H)“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”

The Wisdom of Agur
30 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, his utterance. This man declared to Ithiel—to Ithiel and Ucal:
2 (A)Surely I am more stupid than any man,
And do not have the understanding of a man.
3 I neither learned wisdom
Nor have (B)knowledge of the Holy One.
4 (C)Who has ascended into heaven, or descended?
(D)Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has bound the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name, and what is His Son’s name,
If you know?
5 (E)Every word of God is [a]pure;
(F)He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
6 (G)Do not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
7 Two things I request of You
(Deprive me not before I die):
8 Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
Give me neither poverty nor riches—
(H)Feed me with the food allotted to me;
9 (I)Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, “Who is the Lord?”
Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.
10 Do not malign a servant to his master,

19 The way of an eagle in the air,

20 This is the way of an adulterous woman:

24 There are four things which are little on the earth,

Assurance of Zion’s Salvation
62 For Zion’s sake I will not [a]hold My peace,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
2 (A)The Gentiles shall see your righteousness,
And all (B)kings your glory.
(C)You shall be called by a new name,
Which the mouth of the Lord will name.
3 You shall also be (D)a crown of glory
In the hand of the Lord,
And a royal diadem
In the hand of your God.
4 (E)You shall no longer be termed (F)Forsaken,[b]
Nor shall your land any more be termed (G)Desolate;[c]

For the Lord delights in you,
And your land shall be married.

Take out the stones,

11 Indeed the Lord has proclaimed
To the end of the world:

‘Surely your salvation is coming;

12 And they shall call them The Holy People,
The Redeemed of the Lord;

The Lord in Judgment and Salvation
63 Who is this who comes from Edom,
With dyed garments from Bozrah,
This One who is [i]glorious in His apparel,
Traveling in the greatness of His strength?—
“I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”
2 Why (Q)is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?
3 “I have (R)trodden the winepress alone,
And from the peoples no one was with Me.
For I have trodden them in My anger,
And trampled them in My fury;
Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments,
And I have stained all My robes.
4 For the (S)day of vengeance is in My heart,
And the year of My redeemed has come.
5 (T)I looked, but (U)there was no one to help,
And I wondered
That there was no one to uphold;
Therefore My own (V)arm brought salvation for Me;
And My own fury, it sustained Me.
6 I have trodden down the peoples in My anger,
Made them drunk in My fury,
And brought down their strength to the earth.”
God’s Mercy Remembered
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord
And the praises of the Lord,
According to all that the Lord has bestowed on us,
And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies,
According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.
8 For He said, “Surely they are My people,
Children who will not lie.”
So He became their Savior.
9 (W)In all their affliction He was [j]afflicted,
(X)And the Angel of His Presence saved them;
(Y)In His love and in His pity He redeemed them;
And (Z)He bore them and carried them
All the days of old.
10 But they (AA)rebelled and (AB)grieved His Holy Spirit;
(AC)So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,
And He fought against them.
11 Then he (AD)remembered the days of old,
Moses and his people, saying:
“Where is He who (AE)brought them up out of the sea
With the [k]shepherd of His flock?
(AF)Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,
12 Who led them by the right hand of Moses,
(AG)With His glorious arm,
(AH)Dividing the water before them
To make for Himself an everlasting name,

As a horse in the wilderness,
That they might not stumble?”
14 As a beast goes down into the valley,
And the Spirit of the Lord causes him to rest,
So You lead Your people,

A Prayer of Penitence
15 (AK)Look down from heaven,
And see (AL)from Your habitation, holy and glorious.
Where are Your zeal and Your strength,
The yearning (AM)of Your heart and Your mercies toward me?
Are they restrained?
16 (AN)Doubtless You are our Father,
Though Abraham (AO)was ignorant of us,
And Israel does not acknowledge us.
You, O Lord, are our Father;
Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.
17 O Lord, why have You (AP)made us stray from Your ways,
And hardened our heart from Your fear?
Return for Your servants’ sake,
The tribes of Your inheritance.
18 (AQ)Your holy people have possessed it but a little while;
(AR)Our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary.
19 We have become like those of old, over whom You never ruled,
Those who were never called by Your name.
A Prayer for Help
64 Oh, that You would [l]rend the heavens!
That You would come down!
That the mountains might shake at Your (AS)presence—
2 As fire burns brushwood,
As fire causes water to boil—
To make Your name known to Your adversaries,
That the nations may tremble at Your presence!
3 When (AT)You did awesome things for which we did not look,
You came down,
The mountains shook at Your presence.
4 For since the beginning of the world
(AU)Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear,
Nor has the eye seen any God besides You,
Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
5 You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness,
Who remembers You in Your ways.
You are indeed angry, for we have sinned—
(AV)In these ways we continue;
And we need to be saved.
6 But we are all like an unclean thing,
And all (AW)our righteousnesses are like [m]filthy rags;
We all (AX)fade as a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind,
Have taken us away.
7 And there is no one who calls on Your name,
Who stirs himself up to take hold of You;
For You have hidden Your face from us,
And have [n]consumed us because of our iniquities.
8 But now, O Lord,
You are our Father;
We are the clay, and You our (AY)potter;
And all we are the work of Your hand.
9 Do not be furious, O Lord,
Nor remember iniquity forever;
Indeed, please look—we all are Your people!
10 Your holy cities are a wilderness,
Zion is a wilderness,
Jerusalem a desolation.
11 Our holy and beautiful [o]temple,
Where our fathers praised You,
Is burned up with fire;
