⁶² And Jesus said to him, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

¹³ Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have laid hold^[a] of it, but one thing I have laid hold of: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,^(A)

³¹ On that day, anyone on the housetop who has belongings in the house must not come down to take them away, and likewise anyone in the field must not turn back. ³² Remember Lot’s wife.

²⁰ For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the^[a] Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overpowered, the last state has become worse for them than the first.^{(A) 21} For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment that was handed on to them.^{(B) 22} It has happened to them according to the true proverb,

and,

⁶ But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.^{(A) 7,8} For the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

¹⁰ for Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia,^[a] Titus to Dalmatia.^(A)

³⁷ Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark.^{(A) 38} But Paul decided not to take with them one who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not accompanied them in the work.^(B)
