^44 (A)“Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.”

²³ Him, ^(A)being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, ^(B)you ^[a]have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;

²² saying, ^(A)“The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”

² looking unto Jesus, the ^[a]author and ^[b]finisher of our faith, ^(A)who for the joy that was set before Him ^(B)endured the cross, despising the shame, and ^(C)has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The Discipline of God^(D)

^3 (E)For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, ^(F)lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. ^4 (G)You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. ⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:

Do Not Neglect Salvation

2 Therefore we must give ^[a]the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

^3 (A)that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that ^(B)we are appointed to this. ^4 (C)For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.

²⁷ “For ^(A)truly against ^(B)Your holy Servant Jesus, ^(C)whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together ^28 (D)to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.

¹¹ Jesus answered, ^(A)“You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore ^(B)the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”

⁴ But these things I have told you, that when ^[a]the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.
