⁴² Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the impure spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father.

¹⁵ The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

³⁹ A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him.

²⁶ The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” ²⁷ But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

²⁰ So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.^(A)

²⁶ The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.^(A)

²⁷ The people were all so amazed^(B) that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”

³⁶ Elisha summoned Gehazi and said, “Call the Shunammite.” And he did. When she came, he said, “Take your son.”^(A)

⁴¹ He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive.

²³ Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother^(A) and said, “Look, your son is alive!”
