³² Now Peter and those who were with him ^(A)were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake ^(B)they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.

¹⁴ And ^(A)the Word ^(B)became flesh and ^(C)dwelt among us, ^(D)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[a] from the Father, full of ^(E)grace and ^(F)truth.

¹⁸ And when he had spoken to me, ^(A)I fell into a deep sleep with my face to the ground. But ^(B)he touched me and made me stand up.

²⁴ Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be ^(A)with me ^(B)where I am, ^(C)to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me ^(D)before the foundation of the world.

^4 (A)They will see his face, and ^(B)his name will be on their foreheads. ⁵ And ^(C)night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp ^(D)or sun, for ^(E)the Lord God will be their light, and ^(F)they will reign forever and ever.

² Beloved, we are ^(A)God's children ^(B)now, and what we will be ^(C)has not yet appeared; but we know that ^(D)when he appears^{[a] (E)}we shall be like him, because ^(F)we shall see him as he is.

Christ's Glory and the Prophetic Word

¹⁶ For we did not follow ^(A)cleverly devised ^(B)myths when we made known to you ^(C)the power and ^(D)coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but ^(E)we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

⁴⁵ And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, ⁴⁶ and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and ^(A)pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁰ And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? ^41 (A)Watch and ^(B)pray that you ^(C)may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” ⁴² Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, ^(D)your will be done.” ⁴³ And again he came and found them sleeping, for ^(E)their eyes were heavy.
