²³ And He was saying to them all, “^(A)If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. ²⁴ For ^(B)whoever wants to save his ^[a]life will lose it, but whoever loses his ^[b]life for My sake, this is the one who will save it.

³⁸ And ^(A)the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

¹⁴ But ^(A)[a]far be it from me to boast, ^(B)except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, ^(C)through ^[b]which the world has been crucified to me, and ^(D)I to the world.

²² that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to ^(A)rid yourselves of the ^(B)old ^[a]self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the ^(C)lusts of deceit, ²³ and that you are to be ^(D)renewed in the spirit of your minds,
