Take Up the Cross and Follow Him^(A)

^23 (B)Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross ^[a]daily, and follow Me.

^38 (A)And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. ^39 (B)He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

^26 (A)“If anyone comes to Me ^(B)and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, ^(C)yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁷ And ^(D)whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him^(A)

³⁴ When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, ^(B)“Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ³⁵ For ^(C)whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. ³⁶ For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? ³⁷ Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? ^38 (D)For whoever ^(E)is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

¹³ For ^(A)if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you ^(B)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

^25 (A)He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. ²⁶ If anyone serves Me, let him ^(B)follow Me; and ^(C)where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

¹² teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

^5 (A)Therefore put to death ^(B)your members which are on the earth: ^(C)fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, ^(D)which is idolatry.

¹² Yes, and ^(A)all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
