¹⁹ So they answered and said, ^(A)“John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

²¹ And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?”

He said, “I am not.”

“Are you ^(A)the Prophet?”

And he answered, “No.”

Herod Seeks to See Jesus^(A)

^7 (B)Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead, ⁸ and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again.

^15 (A)Others said, “It is Elijah.”

And others said, “It is ^[a]the Prophet, ^(B)or like one of the prophets.”

² and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.”

¹⁷ They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?”

He said, ^(A)“He is a prophet.”

⁴⁰ Therefore ^[a]many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is ^(A)the Prophet.”

²⁵ And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
