¹³ But he said to them, ^(A)“You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than ^(B)five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.”

^5 (A)Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to ^(B)Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” ⁶ He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. ^7 (C)Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii^[a] worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” ⁸ One of his disciples, ^(D)Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, ⁹ “There is a boy here who has five ^(E)barley loaves and two fish, but ^(F)what are they for so many?”

⁴² A man came from ^(A)Baal-shalishah, ^(B)bringing the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack. And Elisha said, ^(C)“Give to the men, that they may eat.” ⁴³ But his servant said, “How can I set this before a hundred men?” So he repeated, “Give them to the men, that they may eat, for thus says the Lord, ‘They shall eat and have some left.’”

³⁷ But he answered them, ^(A)“You give them something to eat.” And ^(B)they said to him, ^(C)“Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii^[a] worth of bread and give it to them to eat?” ³⁸ And he said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out, they said, ^(D)“Five, and two fish.”

¹⁶ But Jesus said, “They need not go away; ^(A)you give them something to eat.” ¹⁷ They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.”

²¹ But Moses said, ^(A)“The people among whom I am number six hundred thousand on foot, and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month!’ ^22 (B)Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, and be enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, and be enough for them?” ²³ And the Lord said to Moses, ^(C)“Is the Lord's hand shortened? Now you shall see whether ^(D)my word will come true for you or not.”
