⁹ His disciples asked him what this parable meant.

¹⁵ I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.^(A)

¹⁰ When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables.

¹⁸ “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means:

¹⁰ The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

¹⁷ After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him^(A) about this parable. ¹⁸ “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them?

³⁴ He did not say anything to them without using a parable.^(A) But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

³⁶ Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable^(A) of the weeds in the field.”
