⁵¹ When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go ^[a]in except ^[b]Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl.

Jesus Transfigured on the Mount^(A)

^28 (B)Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

³³ And He ^(A)took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.

The Model Prayer^(A)

⁵ “And when you pray, you shall not be like the ^[a]hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. ⁶ But you, when you pray, ^(B)go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you ^[b]openly.

⁴ And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”

⁵ So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. ⁶ Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”

And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased.

¹⁹ And he said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him out of her arms and carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed. ²⁰ Then he cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?” ^21 (A)And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, I pray, let this child’s soul come back to him.” ²² Then the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he ^(B)revived.

²³ And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, “See, your son lives!”

⁴⁰ But Peter ^(A)put them all out, and ^(B)knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he ^(C)said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

¹⁴ Simon, ^(A)whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;

³⁷ And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. ³⁸ Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw ^[a]a tumult and those who ^(A)wept and wailed loudly. ³⁹ When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but ^(B)sleeping.”

⁴⁰ And they ridiculed Him. ^(C)But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying.
