⁴⁹ While he was still speaking, someone from ^(A)the ruler's house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; ^(B)do not trouble ^(C)the Teacher any more.”

⁶ And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, ^(A)do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.

³⁵ While he was still speaking, there came from ^(A)the ruler's house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why ^(B)trouble ^(C)the Teacher any further?” ³⁶ But overhearing^[a] what they said, Jesus said to ^(D)the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” ³⁷ And he allowed no one to follow him except ^(E)Peter and James and ^(F)John the brother of James. ³⁸ They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus^[b] saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. ³⁹ And when he had entered, he said to them, ^(G)“Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but ^(H)sleeping.” ⁴⁰ And they laughed at him. But he ^(I)put them all outside and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was. ^41 (J)Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, ^(K)arise.” ⁴² And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. ⁴³ And ^(L)he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.

²³ And when Jesus came to the ruler's house and saw ^(A)the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, ²⁴ he said, “Go away, for ^(B)the girl is not dead but ^(C)sleeping.” And they laughed at him. ²⁵ But ^(D)when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and ^(E)took her by the hand, and the girl arose. ²⁶ And the report of this went through all that district.

¹² But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.”

⁷ and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’?

^41 (A)And there came a man named Jairus, who was ^(B)a ruler of the synagogue. And falling at Jesus' feet, he implored him to come to his house, ⁴² for he had ^(C)an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying.

As Jesus went, the people ^(D)pressed around him. ⁴³ And there was a woman ^(E)who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her ^(F)living on physicians,^[a] she could not be healed by anyone.
