²⁷ And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons ^[a]for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.

² And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an ^(A)unclean spirit, ³ who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind ^[a]him, not even with chains, ⁴ because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. ⁵ And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.

^24 (A)And he also stripped off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down ^(B)naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, ^(C)“Is Saul also among the prophets?”

^16 (A)Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain by a sword or who has died, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
