¹⁴ And the seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked by worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and they bring no fruit to maturity.

Do Not Love the World

¹⁵ Do not love ^(A)the world nor the things in the world. ^(B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

⁵ You have ^[a](A)lived for pleasure on the earth and lived luxuriously; you have ^[b]fattened your hearts in ^(B)a day of slaughter.

^3 (A)For we too were once foolish, ^(B)disobedient, ^(C)deceived, ^(D)enslaved to ^(E)various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in ^(F)malice and ^(G)envy, hateful, hating one another.

⁶ But she who ^(A)indulges herself in luxury is ^(B)dead, even while she lives.

²⁴ Now those who ^[a]belong to ^(A)Christ Jesus ^(B)crucified the flesh with its passions and ^(C)desires.
