31 “To what then will I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another,
‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we wailed, and you did not weep.’
33 For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon’; 34 the Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ 35 Nevertheless, wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”

A chi sono simili? 32 Sono simili a bambini seduti in piazza, che gridano gli uni agli altri: “Vi abbiamo suonato il flauto e non avete ballato; abbiamo cantato dei lamenti e non avete pianto”. 33 Difatti è venuto Giovanni il battista, che non mangia pane e non beve vino, e voi dite: “Ha un demonio”. 34 È venuto il Figlio dell’uomo, che mangia e beve, e voi dite: “Ecco un mangione e un beone, amico dei pubblicani e dei peccatori! 35 Ma alla sapienza è stata resa giustizia da tutti i suoi figli”».

Siratót énekeltünk,

33 Mert eljött Bemerítő János, aki nem azt ette, mint a többiek, és bort sem ivott. 31 A qui donc pourrais-je comparer les gens de notre temps ? A qui ressemblent-ils ? 32 Ils sont comme des enfants assis sur la place du marché qui se crient les uns aux autres :
Quand nous avons joué de la flûte,
vous n’avez pas dansé !
Et quand nous avons chanté des airs de deuil,
vous ne vous êtes pas mis à pleurer !
33 En effet, Jean-Baptiste est venu, il ne mangeait pas de pain, il ne buvait pas de vin. Qu’avez-vous dit alors ? « Il a un démon en lui ! ».
34 Le Fils de l’homme est venu, il mange et boit, et vous vous écriez : « Cet homme ne pense qu’à faire bonne chère et à boire du vin, il est l’ami des collecteurs d’impôts et des pécheurs notoires. »
35 Cependant, la sagesse de Dieu est reconnue comme telle par ceux qui la reçoivent.
