Luke 6:6-11

New International Version

⁶On another Sabbath^(A) he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled. ⁷The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely^(B) to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.^(C) ⁸But Jesus knew what they were thinking^(D) and said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there.

⁹Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”

¹⁰He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored. ¹¹But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious^(E) and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

⁶^(A)On another Sabbath He entered ^(B)the synagogue and taught; and a man was there ^[a]whose right hand was withered. ⁷Now the scribes and the Pharisees ^(C)were watching Him ^[b]closely to see if He healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse Him. ⁸But He ^(D)knew ^[c]what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and ^[d]come forward!” And he got up and ^[e]came forward. ⁹And Jesus said to them, “I ask you whether it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do harm, to save a life or to destroy it?” ¹⁰And after ^(E)looking around at them all, He said to him, “Stretch out your hand!” And he did so; and his hand was restored. ¹¹But they themselves were filled with senseless rage, and began discussing together what they might do to Jesus.
