The Parable of the Builders

46 “Now (A)why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 (B)Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and [a]acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who [b]dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when there was a flood, the river burst against that house and yet it could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; and the river burst against it and it immediately collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”

The Two Foundations(A)

46 “Why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but don’t do what I tell you? 47 I will show you what everyone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them. 48 They are like a person building a house, who dug a deep hole to lay the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the floodwaters pushed against that house but couldn’t shake it, because it had been founded on the rock.[a] 49 But the person who hears what I say[b] but doesn’t act on it is like someone who built a house on the ground without any foundation. When the floodwaters pushed against it, that house[c] quickly collapsed, and the resulting destruction of that house was extensive.”
