The Beatitudes(A)
20 Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
(B)“Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
21 (C)Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be (D)filled.[a]
(E)Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall (F)laugh.
22 (G)Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they (H)exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
23 (I)Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For (J)in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
Jesus Pronounces Woes
24 “But(K) woe to you (L)who are rich,
For (M)you have received your consolation.
25 (N)Woe to you who are full,
For you shall hunger.
(O)Woe to you who laugh now,
For you shall mourn and (P)weep.

For so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. 22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. 23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy: for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for in the same manner did their fathers unto the prophets. 24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. 25 Woe unto you, ye that are full now! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you, ye that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. 26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets.
