Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath(A)

6 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels.(B) 2 Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”(C)

3 Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?(D) 4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat.(E) And he also gave some to his companions.” 5 Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man(F) is Lord of the Sabbath.”

6 On another Sabbath(G) he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled. 7 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(H) to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.(I) 8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking(J) and said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there.

9 Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”

10 He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored. 11 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious(K) and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

The Twelve Apostles(L)

12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.(M) 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:(N) 14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew,(O) Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

Blessings and Woes(P)

17 He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coastal region around Tyre and Sidon,(Q) 18 who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, 19 and the people all tried to touch him,(R) because power was coming from him and healing them all.(S)

20 Looking at his disciples, he said:

“Blessed are you who are poor,
    for yours is the kingdom of God.(T)
21 Blessed are you who hunger now,
    for you will be satisfied.(U)
Blessed are you who weep now,
    for you will laugh.(V)
22 Blessed are you when people hate you,
    when they exclude you(W) and insult you(X)
    and reject your name as evil,
        because of the Son of Man.(Y)

23 “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy,(Z) because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.(AA)

24 “But woe to you who are rich,(AB)
    for you have already received your comfort.(AC)
25 Woe to you who are well fed now,
    for you will go hungry.(AD)
Woe to you who laugh now,
    for you will mourn and weep.(AE)
26 Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you,
    for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.(AF)

Love for Enemies(AG)

27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,(AH) 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.(AI) 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.(AJ) 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.(AK)

32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?(AL) Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you?(AM) Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them,(AN) and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children(AO) of the Most High,(AP) because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful,(AQ) just as your Father(AR) is merciful.

Judging Others(AS)

37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged.(AT) Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.(AU) 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.(AV) For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”(AW)

39 He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?(AX) 40 The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.(AY)

41 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

A Tree and Its Fruit(AZ)

43 “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit.(BA) People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. 45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.(BB)

The Wise and Foolish Builders(BC)

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’(BD) and do not do what I say?(BE) 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice,(BF) I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Spicele de grâu şi Sabatul

6 Într-o(A) zi de Sabat, s-a întâmplat că Isus trecea prin lanurile de grâu. Ucenicii Lui smulgeau spice de grâu, le frecau cu mâinile şi le mâncau. 2 Unii dintre farisei le-au zis: „Pentru ce faceţi ce(B) nu este îngăduit să faceţi în ziua Sabatului?” 3 Isus le-a răspuns: „Oare n-aţi citit ce(C) a făcut David când a flămânzit, el şi cei ce erau împreună cu el? 4 Cum a intrat în Casa lui Dumnezeu, a luat pâinile pentru punerea înaintea Domnului, a mâncat din ele şi a dat şi celor ce erau cu el, măcar că(D) nu era îngăduit să le mănânce decât preoţii?” 5 Şi le zicea: „Fiul omului este Domn chiar şi al Sabatului”.

Omul cu mâna uscată

6 În(E) altă zi de Sabat, s-a întâmplat că Isus a intrat în sinagogă şi învăţa pe norod. Acolo era un om care avea mâna dreaptă uscată. 7 Cărturarii şi fariseii pândeau pe Isus, să vadă dacă-l va vindeca în ziua Sabatului, ca să aibă de ce să-L învinuiască. 8 Dar El le ştia gândurile şi a zis omului care avea mâna uscată: „Scoală-te şi stai în mijloc”. El s-a sculat şi a stat în picioare. 9 Şi Isus le-a zis: „Vă întreb: Este îngăduit în ziua Sabatului a face bine ori a face rău? A scăpa o viaţă sau a o pierde?” 10 Atunci, Şi-a rotit privirile peste toţi şi a zis omului: „Întinde-ţi mâna!” El a întins-o, şi mâna i s-a făcut sănătoasă ca şi cealaltă. 11 Ei turbau de mânie şi s-au sfătuit ce ar putea să facă lui Isus.

Alegerea celor doisprezece

12 În(F) zilele acelea, Isus S-a dus în munte să Se roage şi a petrecut toată noaptea în rugăciune către Dumnezeu. 13 Când s-a făcut ziuă, a chemat pe ucenicii Săi şi(G) a ales dintre ei doisprezece pe care i-a numit apostoli, şi anume: 14 pe Simon, pe(H) care l-a numit şi Petru, pe Andrei, fratele lui, pe Iacov, pe Ioan, pe Filip, pe Bartolomeu, 15 pe Matei, pe Toma, pe Iacov, fiul lui Alfeu, pe Simon, numit Zelotul, 16 pe Iuda, fiul(I) lui Iacov, şi pe Iuda Iscarioteanul, care s-a făcut vânzător.

Felurite vindecări

17 S-a pogorât împreună cu ei şi S-a oprit într-un podiş, unde se aflau mulţi ucenici de-ai Lui, şi(J) o mare mulţime de oameni, care veniseră din toată Iudeea, din Ierusalim şi de pe lângă marea Tirului şi a Sidonului, ca să-L asculte şi să fie vindecaţi de bolile lor. 18 Cei chinuiţi de duhuri necurate erau vindecaţi. 19 Şi tot norodul căuta(K) să se atingă de El, pentru că din El ieşea(L) o putere, care-i vindeca pe toţi.

Fericirile

20 Atunci, Isus Şi-a ridicat ochii spre ucenicii Săi şi a zis:

„Ferice(M) de voi, care sunteţi săraci,
pentru că Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu este a voastră!
21 Ferice(N) de voi, care sunteţi flămânzi acum,
pentru că voi veţi fi săturaţi!

Ferice(O) de voi, care plângeţi acum, pentru că voi veţi râde! 22 Ferice(P) de voi, când oamenii vă vor urî, vă(Q) vor izgoni dintre ei, vă vor ocărî şi vor lepăda numele vostru, ca ceva rău, din pricina Fiului omului! 23 Bucuraţi-vă(R) în ziua aceea şi săltaţi de veselie, pentru că răsplata voastră este mare în cer; căci tot aşa(S) făceau părinţii lor cu prorocii. 24 Dar(T) vai de voi, bogaţilor(U), pentru că voi v-aţi(V) primit aici mângâierea!

25 Vai(W) de voi, care sunteţi sătui acum! Pentru că voi veţi flămânzi!

Vai(X) de voi, care râdeţi acum, pentru că voi veţi plânge şi vă veţi tângui!
26 Vai(Y) de voi, când toţi oamenii vă vor grăi de bine! Fiindcă tot aşa făceau părinţii lor cu prorocii mincinoşi!

Iubirea vrăjmaşilor

27 Dar(Z) Eu vă spun vouă, care Mă ascultaţi: Iubiţi pe vrăjmaşii voştri, faceţi bine celor ce vă urăsc, 28 binecuvântaţi pe cei ce vă blestemă, rugaţi-vă(AA) pentru cei ce se poartă rău cu voi. 29 Dacă(AB) te bate cineva peste o falcă, întoarce-i şi pe cealaltă. Dacă(AC) îţi ia cineva haina cu sila, nu-l opri să-ţi ia şi cămaşa. 30 Oricui(AD) îţi cere, dă-i; şi celui ce-ţi ia cu sila ale tale, nu i le cere înapoi. 31 Ce(AE) voiţi să vă facă vouă oamenii, faceţi-le şi voi la fel. 32 Dacă(AF) iubiţi pe cei ce vă iubesc, ce răsplată vi se cuvine? Şi păcătoşii iubesc pe cei ce-i iubesc pe ei. 33 Dacă faceţi bine celor ce vă fac bine, ce răsplată vi se cuvine? Şi păcătoşii fac aşa. 34 Şi(AG)dacă daţi cu împrumut acelora de la care nădăjduiţi să luaţi înapoi, ce răsplată vi se cuvine? Şi păcătoşii dau cu împrumut păcătoşilor, ca să ia înapoi întocmai. 35 Voi, însă, iubiţi(AH) pe vrăjmaşii voştri, faceţi bine şi daţi(AI) cu împrumut, fără să nădăjduiţi ceva în schimb. Şi răsplata voastră va fi mare şi veţi(AJ) fi fiii Celui Preaînalt; căci El este bun şi cu cei nemulţumitori, şi cu cei răi. 36 Fiţi(AK) dar milostivi, cum şi Tatăl vostru este milostiv.

Paiul şi bârna, pomul şi roada

37 Nu(AL) judecaţi, şi nu veţi fi judecaţi; nu osândiţi, şi nu veţi fi osândiţi; iertaţi, şi vi se va ierta. 38 Daţi(AM), şi vi se va da; ba încă vi se va turna în sân(AN) o măsură bună, îndesată, clătinată, care se va vărsa pe deasupra. Căci cu(AO) ce măsură veţi măsura, cu aceea vi se va măsura.” 39 Le-a spus şi pilda următoare: „Oare(AP) poate un orb să călăuzească pe un alt orb? Nu vor cădea amândoi în groapă? 40 Ucenicul nu(AQ) este mai presus de învăţătorul lui, dar orice ucenic desăvârşit va fi ca învăţătorul lui. 41 De(AR) ce vezi tu paiul din ochiul fratelui tău şi nu te uiţi cu băgare de seamă la bârna din ochiul tău? 42 Sau cum poţi să zici fratelui tău: ‘Frate, lasă-mă să-ţi scot paiul din ochi’ şi, când colo, tu nu vezi bârna din ochiul tău? Făţarnicule, scoate(AS) întâi bârna din ochiul tău, şi atunci vei vedea desluşit să scoţi paiul din ochiul fratelui tău. 43 Nu(AT) este nici un pom bun care să facă roadă rea şi nici un pom rău care să facă roadă bună. 44 Căci orice(AU) pom se cunoaşte după roada lui. Nu se strâng smochine din spini, nici nu se culeg struguri din mărăcini. 45 Omul(AV) bun scoate lucruri bune din vistieria bună a inimii lui, iar omul rău scoate lucruri rele din vistieria rea a inimii lui; căci din(AW) prisosul inimii vorbeşte gura.

Casa zidită pe stâncă

46 De(AX) ce-Mi ziceţi: ‘Doamne, Doamne!’ şi nu faceţi ce spun Eu? 47 Vă voi arăta cu cine se aseamănă orice(AY) om care vine la Mine, aude cuvintele Mele şi le face. 48 Se aseamănă cu un om care, când a zidit o casă, a săpat adânc înainte şi a aşezat temelia pe stâncă. A venit o vărsare de ape şi s-a năpustit şuvoiul peste casa aceea, dar n-a putut s-o clatine, pentru că era zidită pe stâncă. 49 Dar cine aude şi nu face se aseamănă cu un om care a zidit o casă pe pământ, fără temelie. Şi s-a năpustit şuvoiul asupra ei, ea s-a prăbuşit îndată, şi prăbuşirea acestei case a fost mare.”

Jesús, Señor del día de reposo

6 (A)Aconteció que un día de reposo[a] Jesús pasaba por unos sembrados, y Sus discípulos arrancaban y comían espigas(B), restregándolas entre las manos. 2 Pero algunos de los fariseos dijeron: «¿Por qué hacen ustedes lo que no es lícito en el día de reposo(C)?».

3 Jesús les respondió: «¿Ni siquiera han leído lo que hizo David(D)cuando tuvo hambre, él y los que con él estaban; 4 cómo entró en la casa de Dios, y tomó y comió los panes consagrados[b], que a nadie es lícito(E)comer sino solo a los sacerdotes, y dio también a sus compañeros?». 5 También les decía: «El Hijo del Hombre es Señor del día de reposo».

Jesús sana al hombre de la mano seca

6 (F)Y[c] en otro día de reposo entró en la sinagoga y enseñaba(G); y había allí un hombre que tenía la[d] mano derecha seca[e]. 7 A fin de encontrar de qué acusar a Jesús, los escribas y los fariseos lo observaban atentamente para ver si sanaba en el día de reposo(H). 8 Pero Él sabía lo que ellos estaban pensando[f](I), y dijo al hombre que tenía la mano seca[g]: «Levántate y ven acá[h]». Y él, levantándose, se puso de pie.

9 Entonces Jesús les dijo: «Yo les pregunto: ¿es lícito en el día de reposo hacer bien o hacer mal; salvar una vida o destruirla?».

10 Después de mirarlos a todos a su alrededor, dijo al hombre[i]: «Extiende tu mano». Y él lo hizo así, y su mano quedó sana[j](J). 11 Pero ellos se llenaron de ira[k], y discutían entre sí qué podrían hacerle a Jesús.

Jesús escoge a los doce apóstoles

12 En[l] esos días Jesús se fue al monte(K) a orar(L), y pasó toda la noche en oración a Dios. 13 Cuando se hizo de día, (M)llamó a Sus discípulos y escogió doce de ellos, a los que también dio el nombre de apóstoles(N): 14 Simón, a quien también llamó Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Jacobo[m] y Juan; Felipe y Bartolomé; 15 Mateo(O) y Tomás; Jacobo[n], hijo de Alfeo, y Simón, al que llamaban el Zelote; 16 Judas, hijo de Jacobo[o], y Judas Iscariote, que llegó a ser traidor.

17 Descendió(P) con ellos y se detuvo en un lugar llano. Había una gran multitud(Q) de Sus discípulos y una gran muchedumbre del pueblo, de toda Judea, de Jerusalén y de la región costera de Tiro y Sidón(R), 18 [p]que habían ido para oír a Jesús y para ser sanados de sus enfermedades; y los que eran atormentados por espíritus inmundos eran curados. 19 Y toda la multitud procuraba tocar a Jesús(S), porque de Él salía un poder(T) que a todos sanaba.

Las bienaventuranzas

20 Volviendo su vista hacia Sus discípulos, decía: «Bienaventurados(U)ustedes los pobres, porque de ustedes es el reino de Dios(V).

21 »Bienaventurados ustedes los que ahora tienen hambre, porque serán saciados. Bienaventurados ustedes los que ahora lloran, porque reirán.

22 »Bienaventurados son ustedes cuando los hombres los aborrecen, cuando los apartan de sí(W) , los colman de insultos(X) y desechan su nombre como malo, por causa del Hijo del Hombre. 23 Alégrense en ese día y salten(Y)de gozo, porque su recompensa es grande en el cielo, pues sus padres trataban de la misma manera a los profetas(Z).

24 »Pero ¡ay de ustedes los ricos(AA) ! Porque ya están recibiendo todo su consuelo(AB) .

25 »¡Ay de ustedes, los que ahora están saciados[q] ! Porque tendrán hambre. ¡Ay de ustedes, los que ahora ríen! Porque se lamentarán y llorarán.

26 »¡Ay de ustedes, cuando todos los hombres hablen bien de ustedes! Porque de la misma manera trataban sus padres a los falsos profetas(AC) .

El amor verdadero y su recompensa

27 »Pero a ustedes los que oyen, les digo: amen a sus enemigos; hagan bien a los que los aborrecen(AD) ; 28 bendigan a los que los maldicen; oren por los que los insultan(AE). 29 (AF)Al que te hiera en la mejilla, preséntale también la otra; y al que te quite la capa[r], no le niegues tampoco la túnica. 30 A todo el que te pida, dale, y al que te quite lo que es tuyo, no se lo reclames.

31 »Y así como quieran que los hombres les hagan a ustedes, hagan con ellos de la misma manera(AG) . 32 Si aman a los que los aman, ¿qué mérito tienen? Porque también los pecadores aman a los que los aman(AH). 33 Si hacen bien a los que les hacen bien, ¿qué mérito tienen? Porque también los pecadores hacen lo mismo. 34 Si prestan(AI)a aquellos de quienes esperan recibir, ¿qué mérito tienen? También los pecadores prestan a los pecadores para recibir de ellos la misma cantidad.

35 »Antes bien, amen a sus enemigos, y hagan bien(AJ) , y presten no esperando nada a cambio[s] , y su recompensa será grande, y serán hijos del Altísimo(AK) ; porque Él es bondadoso para con los ingratos y perversos. 36 Sean ustedes misericordiosos, así como su Padre es misericordioso.

El juicio hacia los demás

37 »(AL) No juzguen, y no serán juzgados; no condenen, y no serán condenados; perdonen[t] , y serán perdonados(AM) . 38 Den, y les será dado; medida buena, apretada, remecida y rebosante, vaciarán en sus regazos(AN). Porque con la medida con que midan, se les volverá a medir(AO)».

39 Les dijo también una parábola: «¿Acaso puede un ciego guiar a otro ciego? ¿No caerán ambos en un hoyo(AP)? 40 Un discípulo no está por encima de su maestro(AQ); pero todo discípulo, después de que se ha preparado bien, será como su maestro[u]. 41 ¿Y por qué miras la mota[v]que está en el ojo de tu hermano, y no te das cuenta de la viga que está en tu propio ojo? 42 ¿O cómo puedes decir a tu hermano: “Hermano, déjame sacarte la mota[w]que está en tu ojo”, cuando tú mismo no ves la viga que está en tu ojo? ¡Hipócrita! Saca primero la viga de tu ojo y entonces verás con claridad para sacar la mota[x]que está en el ojo de tu hermano.

43 »(AR) Porque no hay árbol bueno que produzca fruto malo, ni a la inversa[y] , árbol malo que produzca fruto bueno. 44 Pues cada árbol por su fruto se conoce. Porque los hombres no recogen higos de los espinos, ni vendimian uvas de una zarza(AS). 45 El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro de su corazón saca lo que es bueno; y el hombre malo, del mal tesoro saca lo que es malo(AT); porque de la abundancia del corazón habla su boca(AU).

Los dos cimientos

46 »¿Por qué ustedes me llaman: “Señor, Señor(AV) ”, y no hacen lo que Yo digo? 47 (AW)Todo el que viene a Mí y oye Mis palabras y las pone en práctica, les mostraré a quién es semejante: 48 es semejante a un hombre que al edificar una casa, cavó hondo[z]y echó cimiento sobre la roca; y cuando vino una inundación, el torrente[aa]dio con fuerza contra aquella casa, pero no pudo moverla porque había sido bien construida. 49 Pero el que ha oído y no ha hecho nada, es semejante a un hombre que edificó una casa sobre tierra, sin echar cimiento; y el torrente dio con fuerza contra ella y al instante se desplomó, y fue grande la ruina de aquella casa».
