A Tree Is Known by Its Fruit(A)

43 (B)“For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For (C)every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45 (D)A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil [a]treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out (E)of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Build on the Rock(F)

46 (G)“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 (H)Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was [b]founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it [c]fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

The Narrow Way(A)

13 (B)“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 [a]Because narrow is the gate and [b]difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

You Will Know Them by Their Fruits(C)

15 (D)“Beware of false prophets, (E)who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 (F)You will know them by their fruits. (G)Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, (H)every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 (I)Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

I Never Knew You(J)

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, (K)‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who (L)does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we (M)not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And (N)then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; (O)depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Build on the Rock(P)

24 “Therefore (Q)whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that (R)the people were astonished at His teaching,
