⁴² Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

^21 (A)You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? ²² You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, ^(B)do you rob temples? ²³ You who ^(C)make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? ²⁴ For ^(D)“the name of God is ^(E)blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.

Circumcision of No Avail

^25 (F)For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. ²⁶ Therefore, ^(G)if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision? ²⁷ And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfills the law, ^(H)judge you who, even with your ^[a]written code and circumcision, are a transgressor of the law? ²⁸ For ^(I)he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; ²⁹ but he is a Jew ^(J)who is one inwardly; and ^(K)circumcision is that of the heart, ^(L)in the Spirit, not in the letter; ^(M)whose ^[b]praise is not from men but from God.

^10 (A)You are witnesses, and God also, ^(B)how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe; ¹¹ as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and ^[a]charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, ^12 (C)that you would walk worthy of God ^(D)who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

¹³ “But ^(A)woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. ^14 [a]Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! ^(B)For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

¹⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of ^[b]hell as yourselves.

¹⁷ Because you say, ^(A)‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— ¹⁸ I counsel you ^(B)to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and ^(C)white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

⁹ For he who lacks these things is ^(A)shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

¹⁰ I appeal to you for my son ^(A)Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains, ¹¹ who once was unprofitable to you, but now is profitable to you and to me.

²¹ Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, ^[a]sanctified and useful for the Master, ^(A)prepared for every good work.
