Judging Others

^37 (A)(B)“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; ^(C)forgive, and you will be forgiven;

^32 (A)Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, ^(B)forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

⁹ Do not grumble against one another, brothers, ^(A)so that you may not be judged; behold, ^(B)the Judge is standing ^(C)at the door.

Judging Others

7 ^(A)“Judge not, that you be not judged. ^2 (B)For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and ^(C)with the measure you use it will be measured to you. ³ Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but ^(D)do not notice the log that is in your own eye? ⁴ Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? ⁵ You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

²⁵ And whenever ^(A)you stand praying, ^(B)forgive, ^(C)if you have anything against anyone, so that ^(D)your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”^[a]

^4 (A)Love is patient and ^(B)kind; love ^(C)does not envy or boast; it ^(D)is not arrogant ⁵ or rude. It ^(E)does not insist on its own way; it ^(F)is not irritable or resentful;^{[a] 6} it ^(G)does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but ^(H)rejoices with the truth. ^7 (I)Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, ^(J)endures all things.

¹⁰ Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For ^(A)we will all stand before ^(B)the judgment seat of God; ¹¹ for it is written,

¹² So then ^(D)each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Do Not Cause Another to Stumble

^13 (E)Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide ^(F)never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. ¹⁴ I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus ^(G)that nothing is unclean in itself, ^(H)but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. ¹⁵ For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, ^(I)you are no longer walking in love. ^(J)By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. ^16 (K)So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil.

God's Righteous Judgment

2 Therefore you have ^(A)no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For ^(B)in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. ² We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things.

³ Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and ^(A)let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. ^4 (B)Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master^[a] that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
