22 (A)Blessed are you when the people hate you, and when they [a](B)exclude you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man. 23 Rejoice on that day and (C)jump for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For their fathers used to [b]treat the prophets (D)the same way. 24 But woe to (E)you who are rich, for (F)you are receiving your comfort in full. 25 Woe to you who [c]are well-fed now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. 26 Woe to you when all the people speak well of you; for their fathers used to [d]treat the (G)false prophets the same way.

27 “But I say to you who hear, (H)love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, (I)pray for those who are abusive to you. 29 (J)Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your [e]cloak, do not withhold your [f]tunic from him either. 30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.
