Jesus Calls His First Disciples(A)
5 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a] the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God.(B) 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.(C)
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”(D)
5 Simon answered, “Master,(E) we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.(F) But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.(G) 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”(H) 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid;(I) from now on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.(J)
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(K)
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.[b](L) When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone,(M) but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded(N) for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
15 Yet the news about him spread all the more,(O) so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.(P)
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man(Q)
17 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law(R) were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.(S) 18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”(T)
21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”(U)
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man(V) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.(W) They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners(X)
27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,”(Y) Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.(Z)
29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors(AA) and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect(AB) complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”(AC)
31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”(AD)
Jesus Questioned About Fasting(AE)
33 They said to him, “John’s disciples(AF) often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.”
34 Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom(AG) fast while he is with them? 35 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them;(AH) in those days they will fast.”
36 He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’”

Simon Peters mirakuløse fiskefangst
5 En dag, da Jesus stod nede ved Genesaret Sø, trængte folk sig ind på ham for at kunne høre Guds ord. 2 Så fik han øje på to både, der lå i vandkanten. Fiskerne var gået fra borde og var ved at rense deres net. 3 Jesus gik om bord i den båd, der tilhørte Simon, og bad ham lægge lidt fra land, hvorefter han satte sig ned i båden og underviste menneskemængden derfra.
4 Da han var færdig, vendte han sig mod Simon og hans partner og sagde: „Sejl ud på dybt vand og læg jeres garn[a] ud til fangst!”
5 „Jamen, mester, vi har slidt hele natten uden at fange noget,” indvendte Simon. „Men når du siger det, så prøver vi igen.” 6 Det varede ikke længe, før nettene var så sprængfyldte med fisk, at de var lige ved at gå i stykker. 7 Simon gjorde tegn til deres kammerater i den anden båd, at de skulle komme og hjælpe dem, og snart var begge både så fyldte med fisk, at de var lige ved at synke. 8 Da Simon Peter så det, faldt han på knæ for Jesus og sagde: „Gå bort fra mig, Herre! Jeg er alt for stor en synder til at være i din nærhed.” 9 Både han selv og hans medhjælpere var lamslåede og forskrækkede over den mirakuløse fiskefangst. 10 Det samme var Peters makkere i den anden båd, Jakob og Johannes, Zebedæus’ sønner. Men Jesus sagde til Simon: „Vær ikke bange. Fra nu af skal du være menneskefisker.”
11 Efter at de havde trukket bådene på land, sagde de farvel til fiskeriet og fulgte nu Jesus på fuldtid som hans disciple.[b]
Jesus helbreder en spedalsk mand(A)
12 I en af de byer, Jesus besøgte, var der en mand, som var hårdt angrebet af spedalskhed. Da han fik øje på Jesus, kastede han sig med ansigtet mod jorden. „Herre, hvis du vil, kan du gøre mig rask!” bad han.
13 Jesus rakte hånden ud og rørte ved manden. „Det vil jeg!” sagde han. „Bliv rask!” I samme øjeblik forsvandt spedalskheden.
14 Jesus forbød ham at sige det til nogen og fortsatte: „Gå hen og lad dig undersøge af en præst, så du kan blive erklæret rask. Og husk at tage den offergave med, som Toraen foreskriver for spedalske, der er blevet helbredt.”
15 Alligevel spredtes rygtet hurtigt, og store folkemængder kom for at høre Jesus og for at blive helbredt for deres sygdomme. 16 Jesus trak sig derfor tilbage til øde områder, hvor han havde chance for at være alene og få tid til at bede.
Jesus viser sin magt til at tilgive synder(B)
17 En dag, da Jesus var i færd med at undervise, sad der mange farisæere og skriftlærde blandt tilhørerne. De var kommet både fra landsbyerne i Galilæa og Judæa og helt fra Jerusalem, og Guds kraft var til stede, så Jesus kunne helbrede. 18 Så kom der nogle mænd gående med en lam mand på en båre. De forsøgte at komme ind i huset for at lægge den syge foran Jesus, 19 men det kunne de ikke på grund af de mange mennesker, der var forsamlede. I stedet gik de op på det flade tag, fjernede nogle teglsten og sænkede båren med den syge mand ned lige foran Jesus. 20 Da Jesus så mændenes tro, sagde han til den lamme mand: „Min ven, dine synder er dig tilgivet.” 21 Men farisæerne og de skriftlærde tænkte: „Hvad bilder han sig ind? Det er da en hån imod Gud! Kun Gud kan tilgive synder.”
22 Jesus kendte deres tanker og sagde: „Hvorfor tænker I sådan? 23 Hvad er lettest at sige: ‚Dine synder er tilgivet,’ eller: ‚Rejs dig op og gå’? 24 Lad mig nu vise jer, at Menneskesønnen[c] har magt på jorden til at tilgive synder.” Med de ord vendte han sig til den lamme mand og sagde: „Rejs dig op, tag din båre og gå hjem!” 25 Straks rejste manden sig for øjnene af dem, tog sin båre og gik hjem, alt imens han lovpriste Gud.
26 Alle de tilstedeværende var ude af sig selv af begejstring og ærefrygt. De priste Gud og sagde: „Vi har set de utroligste ting i dag.”
Jesus elsker dem, det religiøse samfund forkaster(C)
27 Da Jesus senere var på vej ud af byen,[d] fik han øje på en mand ved navn Levi, der sad ved toldstedet og opkrævede skat til romerne. „Kom med mig!” sagde Jesus til ham. 28 Straks rejste Levi sig, forlod alt og fulgte med ham som en af hans disciple.
29 Derefter holdt Levi en stor fest i sit hjem med Jesus som æresgæst. Blandt gæsterne var der mange skatteopkrævere.
30 Farisæerne og de skriftlærde var forargede og sagde til disciplene: „Hvordan kan I få jer selv til at spise sammen med den slags syndige mennesker?” 31 Det var Jesus, der svarede: „Raske mennesker har ikke brug for lægehjælp, men det har de syge. 32 Jeg er kommet for at invitere syndere til at vende om til Gud. Det mener de ‚frelste’ jo ikke, at de har brug for!”
Jesus kommer med en ny lære(D)
33 Så var der nogle, der sagde: „Johannes Døbers disciple faster og beder ofte, og det gør farisæernes også. Hvorfor gør dine disciple det så ikke?” 34 Jesus svarede: „Brudgommens venner kan da ikke faste og sørge, så længe de er sammen med ham. 35 Men der kommer et tidspunkt, hvor brudgommen bliver taget fra dem. Så kan de faste.”
36 Jesus svarede dem også med følgende billedtale: „Ingen kunne finde på at rive sit nye tøj i stykker for at bruge det til at lappe sit gamle tøj. For det første ødelægger man sit nye tøj, og for det andet passer den nye lap alligevel ikke til det gamle tøj. 37 Der er heller ingen, der hælder ny vin på gamle lædersække, for når den nye vin gærer, sprænger den de gamle lædersække. På den måde går vinen til spilde, og lædersækkene bliver ødelagt. 38 Nej, ny vin skal hældes på nye lædersække. 39 Men de, som er vant til at drikke den gamle vin, vil ikke prøve den ny, for de er overbeviste om, at den gamle vin er bedst.”

- 5,11 I datidens kultur foregik undervisningen ofte ved, at man fulgte en mester og lærte gennem eksemplets magt. En discipel er altså mere en lærling end en studerende. Derfor kalder lærlingene og andre mennesker ofte Jesus for „mester”.
- 5,24 „Menneskesønnen” er ikke den bedste oversættelse, men den er bibeholdt her på grund af traditionen. Udtrykket betegner en, der ligner et menneske uden at være et almindeligt menneske, og det henviser til synet i Daniels Bog 7,13-14, hvor Guds Søn, Messias, ses i Himlen i form af et menneske. Jesus bruger titlen „Menneskesøn” om sig selv for på en lidt kryptisk måde at betegne sig selv som den Messias, profetierne talte om skulle komme.

4 E, quando ebbe finito di parlare, disse a Simone: «Prendi il largo, e calate le vostre reti per pescare».
5 E Simone, rispondendo, gli disse: «Maestro, ci siamo affaticati tutta la notte e non abbiamo preso nulla; però, alla tua parola, calerò la rete».
6 E, fatto ciò, presero una tale quantità di pesci che la rete si rompeva.
7 Allora fecero cenno ai loro compagni, che erano nell'altra barca, perché venissero ad aiutarli. Ed essi vennero e riempirono tutt'e due le barche, tanto che stavano affondando.
8 Vedendo questo, Simon Pietro si gettò ai piedi di Gesú, dicendo: «Signore allontanati da me perché sono un uomo peccatore».
9 Infatti Pietro e tutti quelli che erano con lui furono presi da grande stupore, per la quantità di pesci che avevano preso.
10 Lo stesso avvenne pure a Giacomo e a Giovanni, figli di Zebedeo, che erano compagni di Simone. Allora Gesú disse a Simone: «Non temere; da ora in avanti tu sarai pescatore di uomini vivi».
11 Essi quindi, tirate in secco le barche, lasciarono ogni cosa e lo seguirono.
12 Or avvenne che, mentre egli si trovava in una di quelle città, ecco un uomo tutto coperto di lebbra che, veduto Gesú, si prostrò con la faccia a terra e lo pregò, dicendo: «Signore, se tu vuoi, tu puoi mondarmi».
13 Allora egli, distesa la mano, lo toccò dicendo: «Sí, lo voglio, sii mondato». E subito la lebbra lo lasciò.
14 E Gesú gli comandò: «Non dirlo a nessuno; ma va mostrati al sacerdote e fa' un'offerta per la tua purificazione, come ha prescritto Mosé, affinché ciò serva loro di testimonianza».
15 E la sua fama si diffondeva sempre piú; e grandi folle si radunavano per udirlo e per essere da lui guarite dalle loro infermità.
16 Ma egli si ritirava in luoghi solitari e pregava.
17 Or un giorno avvenne che, mentre egli insegnava, erano presenti, seduti, dei farisei e dei dottori della legge, i quali erano venuti da tutti i villaggi della Galilea, della Giudea e da Gerusalemme; e la potenza del Signore era con lui, per compiere guarigioni.
18 Ed ecco, alcuni uomini portavano sopra un letto un uomo paralitico e cercavano di portarlo dentro e di metterlo davanti a lui.
19 Ma, non riuscendo ad introdurlo a causa della folla, salirono sul tetto della casa e lo calarono attraverso le tegole con il lettuccio, proprio in mezzo, davanti a Gesú.
20 Ed egli, veduta la loro fede, disse a quello: «Uomo, i tuoi peccati ti sono perdonati».
21 Allora gli scribi e i farisei cominciarono a ragionare, dicendo: «Chi è costui che pronunzia bestemmie? Chi può togliere i peccati se non Dio solo?».
22 Ma Gesú conosciuti i loro pensieri, prese la parola e disse loro: «Che ragionate nei vostri cuori?
23 Che cosa è piú facile dire: "I tuoi peccati ti sono perdonati" oppure dire: "Alzati e cammina"
24 Ora, affinché sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha autorità sulla terra di perdonare i peccati, io ti dico, (disse al paralitico), alzati, prendi il tuo lettuccio e va' a casa tua».
25 E subito quell'uomo si alzò davanti a loro, prese il lettuccio su cui era disteso e se ne andò a casa sua, glorificando Dio.
26 E tutti furono presi da stupore e glorificavano Dio. E, pieni di paura, dicevano: «Oggi abbiamo visto delle cose sorprendenti».
27 E, dopo queste cose, egli uscí e vide un pubblicano di nome Levi che sedeva al banco delle imposte, e gli disse: «Seguimi».
28 Ed egli, lasciata ogni cosa, si alzò e lo seguì.
29 Poi Levi gli preparò un gran banchetto in casa sua, e una grande folla di pubblicani e di altri erano a tavola con loro.
30 Ma gli scribi e i farisei di quel luogo mormoravano contro i discepoli di Gesú, dicendo: «Perché mangiate e bevete con i pubblicani e i peccatori?».
31 E Gesú, rispondendo, disse loro: «Non sono i sani che hanno bisogno del medico, ma i malati.
32 IO non sono venuto a chiamare a ravvedimento i giusti, ma i peccatori».
33 Allora essi gli dissero: «Perché i discepoli di Giovanni e anche quelli dei farisei digiunano spesso e fanno preghiere, mentre i tuoi mangiano e bevono?».
34 Ed egli disse loro: «Potete voi far digiunare gli intimi amici dello sposo, mentre lo sposo è con loro?
35 Ma verranno i giorni in cui lo sposo sarà loro tolto e allora, in quei giorni, digiuneranno».
36 Inoltre disse loro una parabola: «Nessuno cuce un pezzo di un vestito nuovo sopra un vestito vecchio; altrimenti si trova con il nuovo strappato, e il pezzo tolto dal nuovo non si adatta al vecchio.
37 E nessuno mette vino nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti il vino nuovo rompe gli otri, ed esso si spande e gli otri vanno perduti.
38 Ma bisogna mettere il vino nuovo in otri nuovi, cosí tutti e due si conservano.
39 Nessuno poi, avendo bevuto del vino vecchio, ne vuole subito del nuovo, perché egli dice: "Il vecchio è migliore"».

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?
23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.
29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?
34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
