³¹ And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. ^32 (A)I have not come to call the righteous ^(B)but sinners ^(C)to repentance.”

³ No, I tell you; but unless you ^(A)repent, you will all likewise perish.

⁷ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who ^(A)repents than over ninety-nine ^(B)righteous persons who need no repentance.

The Parable of the Lost Coin

⁸ “Or what woman, having ten silver coins,^[a] if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? ⁹ And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ ¹⁰ Just so, I tell you, there is joy before ^(C)the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

⁴⁷ and that ^(A)repentance for^[a] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed ^(B)in his name ^(C)to all nations, ^(D)beginning from Jerusalem.

^2 (A)“Repent, for ^(B)the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”^[a]

^17 (A)From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, ^(B)“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”^[a]

¹³ Go and learn ^(A)what this means: ^(B)‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For ^(C)I came not to call the righteous, ^(D)but sinners.”

Jesus Begins His Ministry

^14 (A)Now after John was arrested, Jesus ^(B)came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, ¹⁵ and saying, ^(C)“The time is fulfilled, and ^(D)the kingdom of God is at hand;^{[a] (E)}repent and believe in the gospel.”
