¹¹ When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.^(A)

²⁰ Immediately they left their nets and followed him.^(A)

²⁸ Then Peter said, “Look, we have left our homes and followed you.”^{(A) 29} And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God ³⁰ who will not get back very much more in this age and in the age to come eternal life.”^(B)

²⁸ And he got up, left everything, and followed him.^(A)

²⁷ Then Peter said in reply, “Look, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?”^(A)

²¹ Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money^[a] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”^(A)

¹⁸ And immediately they left their nets and followed him.^{(A) 19} As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets. ²⁰ Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

The Man with an Unclean Spirit

²¹ They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, he entered the synagogue and taught.^{(B) 22} They were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.^{(C) 23} Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, ²⁴ and he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God.”^{(D) 25} But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!”^(E)

⁷ Yet whatever gains I had, these I have come to regard as loss because of Christ.^{(A) 8} More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I regard them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ^(B)

³⁷ “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me,^(A)

²⁹ Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the good news^{[a](A) 30} who will not receive a hundredfold now in this age—houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.
