Peter’s Mother-in-Law and Many Others Healed

38 (A)Then He stood up and left the synagogue, and entered Simon’s home. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was (B)suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him [a]to help her. 39 And standing over her, He (C)rebuked the fever, and it left her. Immediately she stood up and [b]began waiting on them.

40 (D)And while (E)the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him, and (F)laying His hands on each one of them, He was (G)healing them. 41 And demons also were coming out of many, shouting and saying, “You are (H)the Son of God!” But (I)rebuking them, He was (J)not allowing them to speak, because they knew Him to be the [c]Christ.

38 After leaving the synagogue, Jesus went home with Simon. Simon’s mother-in-law was sick with a high fever, and the family asked Jesus to help her. 39 He bent over her and spoke harshly to the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and served them.

40 When the sun was setting, everyone brought to Jesus relatives and acquaintances with all kinds of diseases. Placing his hands on each of them, he healed them. 41 Demons also came out of many people. They screamed, “You are God’s Son.” But he spoke harshly to them and wouldn’t allow them to speak because they recognized that he was the Christ.
