⁵ Then the devil^[a] led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.

¹⁵ Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world,^{(A) 16} for all that is in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches—comes not from the Father but from the world.

¹² for our^[a] struggle is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present^[b] darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.^[c](A)

⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.^(A)

⁸ Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory,

² in which you once walked, following the course of this world,^[a] following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work among those who are disobedient.^[b](A)

¹⁷ For our slight, momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure,^(A)

³¹ and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.^(A)
