⁴¹ Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!”^(A) But he rebuked^(B) them and would not allow them to speak,^(C) because they knew he was the Messiah.

¹⁷ She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God,^(A) who are telling you the way to be saved.” ¹⁸ She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.^(B)

³⁴ and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.^(A) He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.^(B)

¹⁹ You believe that there is one God.^(A) Good! Even the demons believe that^(B)—and shudder.

³⁴ “Go away! What do you want with us,^(A) Jesus of Nazareth?^(B) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are^(C)—the Holy One of God!”^(D)

³⁵ “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly.^(E) “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.

¹¹ Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”^(A)

³ The tempter^(A) came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God,^(B) tell these stones to become bread.”

³¹ But these are written that you may believe^[a](A) that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God,^(B) and that by believing you may have life in his name.^(C)

⁶³ But Jesus remained silent.^(A)

The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath^(B) by the living God:^(C) Tell us if you are the Messiah,^(D) the Son of God.”^(E)
