⁴ But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ^(A)‘Man shall not live by bread alone, ^[a]but by every word of God.’ ”

³ So He humbled you, ^(A)allowed you to hunger, and ^(B)fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall ^(C)not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

⁴ But He answered and said, “It is written, ^(A)‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

¹⁷ And ^(A)take the helmet of salvation, and ^(B)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

³¹ “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

²⁵ “So you shall ^(A)serve the Lord your God, and ^(B)He will bless your bread and your water. And ^(C)I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

¹⁰ For it is written:

²⁵ “Therefore I say to you, ^(B)do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? ^26 (C)Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ^(A)‘I said, “You are gods” ’? ³⁵ If He called them gods, ^(B)to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture ^(C)cannot be broken),

⁸ And Jesus answered and said to him, ^[a]“Get behind Me, Satan! ^[b]For it is written, ^(A)‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
