Jesus Heals Many

^38 (A)And he arose and left the synagogue and entered Simon's house. Now ^(B)Simon's mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they appealed to him on her behalf. ³⁹ And he stood over her and ^(C)rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them.

Jesus Cleanses a Leper

¹² While he was in one of the cities, ^(A)there came a man full of leprosy.^[a] And when he saw Jesus, he ^(B)fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, ^(C)if you will, you can make me clean.” ¹³ And Jesus^[b] stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. ¹⁴ And he charged him ^(D)to tell no one, but “go and show ^(E)yourself to the priest, and ^(F)make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, ^(G)for a proof to them.” ^15 (H)But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. ¹⁶ But ^(I)he would withdraw to desolate places and ^(J)pray.

Jesus Heals a Paralytic

¹⁷ On one of those days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and ^(K)teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And ^(L)the power of the Lord was with him to heal.^{[c] 18 (M)}And behold, some men were bringing ^(N)on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus, ¹⁹ but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on ^(O)the roof and let him down with his bed ^(P)through the tiles into the midst before Jesus. ²⁰ And ^(Q)when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, ^(R)your sins are forgiven you.” ²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, “Who is this who speaks ^(S)blasphemies? ^(T)Who can forgive sins but God alone?” ²² When Jesus ^(U)perceived their thoughts, he answered them, “Why do you question in your hearts? ²³ Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? ²⁴ But that you may know that ^(V)the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the man who was paralyzed—“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.” ²⁵ And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, ^(W)glorifying God. ²⁶ And amazement seized them all, and they ^(X)glorified God and were filled ^(Y)with awe, saying, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”

A Man with a Withered Hand

⁶ On another Sabbath, ^(A)he entered the synagogue ^(B)and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered. ⁷ And the scribes and the Pharisees ^(C)watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, ^(D)so that they might find a reason to accuse him. ⁸ But ^(E)he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there. ⁹ And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, ^(F)is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?” ¹⁰ And ^(G)after looking around at them all he said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And ^(H)he did so, and his hand was restored. ¹¹ But they were filled with ^(I)fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.

Jesus Heals a Centurion's Servant

7 After he had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, ^(A)he entered Capernaum. ² Now a centurion had a servant^[a] who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. ³ When the centurion^[b] heard about Jesus, ^(B)he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. ⁴ And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, ^(C)“He is worthy to have you do this for him, ⁵ for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us ^(D)our synagogue.” ⁶ And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, ^(E)do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. ⁷ Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But ^(F)say the word, and let my servant be healed. ⁸ For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” ⁹ When Jesus heard these things, ^(G)he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such ^(H)faith.” ¹⁰ And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.
