21 Then He began to say to them, “This day is the Scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
22 And all bore Him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth, and said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?”
23 Then He said to them, “You will surely say to me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal Yourself. Whatever we have heard was done in Capernaum, do it here also in Your own country.’”
24 And He said, “Truly I say to you, no Prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 “But I tell you the truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when Heaven was shut three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land.
26 “But to none of them was Elijah sent, except to a certain widow in Zarephath, of Sidon.
27 “Also, many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the Prophet. Yet none of them was made clean, except Naaman the Syrian.”
28 When all those in the synagogue heard that, they were filled with wrath,
29 and rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led him to the edge of the hill whereupon their city was built, to cast Him over.
30 But He passed through the midst of them, and went His way,

21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled(A) in your hearing.”
22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.(B)
23 Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown(C) what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”(D)
24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.(E) 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(F) 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(G) 27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy[a] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”(H)
28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town,(I) and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.(J)
