¹⁷ and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written:

²⁰ And he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.^{(C) 21} Then he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

²⁶ Amazement seized all of them, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen incredible things today.”^(A)

³³ Yet today, tomorrow, and the next day I must be on my way, because it is impossible for a prophet to be killed outside of Jerusalem.’ ³⁴ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!^(A)

⁹ Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.^{(A) 10} For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.”

⁶¹ The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the cock crows today, you will deny me three times.”^(A)

⁴² Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come in^[a] your kingdom.” ⁴³ He replied, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”^(A)
