Jesus Rejected at Nazareth^(A)

¹⁶ So He came to ^(B)Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, ^(C)He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

² Then Paul, as his custom was, ^(A)went in to them, and for three Sabbaths ^(B)reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

¹⁴ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and ^(A)went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down. ¹⁵ And ^(B)after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Men and brethren, if you have ^(C)any word of ^[a]exhortation for the people, say on.”

¹⁶ Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and ^(D)you who fear God, listen:

⁵¹ Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was ^[a]subject to them, but His mother ^(A)kept all these things in her heart.

6 Then ^(B)He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. ² And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were ^(C)astonished, saying, ^(D)“Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! ³ Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and ^(E)brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they ^(F)were offended at Him.

^54 (A)When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? ^55 (B)Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And ^(C)His brothers ^(D)James, ^[a]Joses, Simon, and Judas?

²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called ^(A)Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled ^(B)which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”

²¹ And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is ^(A)fulfilled in your hearing.”

⁴² And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the ^(A)custom of the feast.
