Jesus’ Public Ministry
14 And (A)Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and (B)news about Him spread through all the surrounding region. 15 And He began (C)teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.
16 And He came to (D)Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, (E)He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and (F)stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to Him. And He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written:
18 “(G)The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He anointed Me to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed,
19 (H)To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
20 And He (I)rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and (J)sat down; and the eyes of all the people in the synagogue were intently directed at Him. 21 Now He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your [a]hearing.” 22 And all the people were [b]speaking well of Him, and admiring the [c]gracious words which were coming from His [d]lips; and yet they were saying, “(K)Is this not Joseph’s son?” 23 And He said to them, “No doubt you will [e]quote this proverb to Me: ‘Physician, heal yourself! All the miracles that we heard were done (L)in Capernaum, do here in (M)your hometown as well.’” 24 But He said, “Truly I say to you, (N)no prophet is welcome in his hometown. 25 But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel (O)in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a [f]severe famine came over all the land; 26 and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to [g](P)Zarephath, in the land of (Q)Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 And there were many with leprosy in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was [h]cleansed, but only (R)Naaman the Syrian.” 28 And all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage as they heard these things; 29 and they got up and (S)drove Him out of the city, and brought Him to the [i]crest of the hill on which their city had been built, so that they could throw Him down from the cliff. 30 But He (T)passed through their midst and went on His way.
31 And (U)He came down to (V)Capernaum, a city of Galilee; and He was teaching them on the Sabbath; 32 and (W)they were amazed at His teaching, because (X)His [j]message was delivered with authority.

Jesus Begins His Galilean Ministry(A)
14 (B)Then Jesus returned (C)in the power of the Spirit to (D)Galilee, and (E)news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. 15 And He (F)taught in their synagogues, (G)being glorified by all.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth(H)
16 So He came to (I)Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, (J)He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18 “The(K) Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me [a]to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To (L)set at liberty those who are [b]oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is (M)fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and (N)marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, (O)“Is this not Joseph’s son?”
23 He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in (P)Capernaum,[c] do also here in (Q)Your country.’ ” 24 Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no (R)prophet is accepted in his own country. 25 But I tell you truly, (S)many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; 26 but to none of them was Elijah sent except to [d]Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 (T)And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”
28 So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were (U)filled with [e]wrath, 29 (V)and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. 30 Then (W)passing through the midst of them, He went His way.
Jesus Casts Out an Unclean Spirit(X)
31 Then (Y)He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. 32 And they were (Z)astonished at His teaching, (AA)for His word was with authority.

14 And in the gevurat HaRuach Hakodesh, Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach returned to the Galil. And a report went out throughout all the surrounding countryside about him.
15 And Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach was saying shiurim in their shuls and eliciting a peledike response (reaction of marveling) from everyone.
16 And he came to Natzeret, the shtetl of his guddal and he entered according to his minhag on Shabbos into the shul and was given an aliyah as the Baal Koreh.
17 [After the Hagbah], he was presented with the megillat sefer Yeshayah and having unrolled the megillah, he found the dvar where it had been written,
18 RUACH ADONAI HASHEM ALAI YAAN MASHACH ADONAI OTI LEVASER ANAVIM SHELACHANI LIKRO LISHVUYIM DEROR, and to the blind PEKACH KOACH, VSHALACH RETZUTZIM CHAFSHIM, (The Spirit of the Sovereign L-rd is upon me because He anointed me to preach Besuras HaGeulah to the poor, He has sent me to preach to the captives release and to the blind the recovery of sight, to set the oppressed free [YESHAYAH 61:1-2; 58:6],
19 LIKRO SHENAT RATZON LAHASHEM (To preach the year of Hashem’s favor.) [YESHAYAH 61:1,2 TARGUM HA-SHIVIM; VAYIKRA 25:10; TEHILLIM 102:20, 103:6; YESHAYAH 42:7, 49:8,9]
20 And doing the glilah ceremony, he rolled up the megillah; and, having given it back to the shammash, he sat down [to teach]. And all the eyes in the shul were focused on him.
21 And Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach began to speak to them, Hayom (today) this dvar of the Kitvei Hakodesh has been fulfilled in your hearing.
22 And everyone was speaking well of him, and they were amazed at the divrei Chen coming out of his mouth and they were saying, Can this be Ben Yosef?
23 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to them, Muz zain (no doubt) you will speak this mashal to me: Rofeh, heal yourself. Everything we heard that happened in Kfar-Nachum, do also here in your shtetl.
24 But he said, Omein, I say to you that no navi is welcome in his own shtetl, in his own eretz moledet (homeland).
25 Omein, I tell you, there were many almanot in Yisroel in the yamim of Eliyahu HaNavi, when Shomayim was shut up for shalosh shanim and shishah chodashim (three years and six months), when a great famine occurred over all the land, [MELACHIM ALEF 17:1]
26 And to not one of them was Eliyahu HaNavi sent except to Tzarfat of Tzidon to an isha, an almanah.
27 And many metzoraim (lepers) were in Yisroel during the time of Elisha HaNavi, and not one of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.
28 And hearing these things, all in the shul were filled with ka’as (anger).
29 And they got up and drove Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach outside the shtetl; and they led him up to the top of the hill upon which the shtetl had been built, and they were intending to throw him down. [BAMIDBAR 15:35]
30 But having gone through the midst of them, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was walking away.
31 And Moshiach went down to Kfar-Nachum, a shtetl of the Galil. And he was saying them shiurim on the Shabbatot.
32 And they were amazed at his torah, because Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach’s dvar torah was with samchut (authority).
