Luke 3:15-18

¹⁵As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, ^(A)whether he might be ^(B)the Christ, ¹⁶^(C)John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but ^(D)he who is mightier than I is coming, ^(E)the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you ^(F)with the Holy Spirit and ^(G)fire. ¹⁷His ^(H)winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to ^(I)gather the wheat into his barn, ^(J)but the chaff he will burn with ^(K)unquenchable fire.”

¹⁸So ^(L)with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people.

¹⁵Now while the people were in a state of expectation and they all were thinking carefully in their hearts about John, ^(A)whether he himself perhaps was the ^[a]Christ, ¹⁶^(B)John responded to them all, saying, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but He is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the straps of His sandals; He will baptize you ^[b]with the Holy Spirit and fire. ¹⁷His ^(C)winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with ^(D)unquenchable fire.”
