³⁸ the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, ^(A)the son of God.

⁷ And the Lord God formed man of the ^(A)dust of the ground, and ^(B)breathed into his ^(C)nostrils the breath of life; and ^(D)man became a living being.

^47 (A)The first man was of the earth, ^(B)made^[a] of dust; the second Man is ^[b]the Lord ^(C)from heaven.

⁴⁵ And so it is written, ^(A)“The first man Adam became a living being.” ^(B)The last Adam became ^(C)a life-giving spirit.

²⁶ And He has made from one ^[a]blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and ^(A)the boundaries of their dwellings, ^27 (B)so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, ^(C)though He is not far from each one of us; ²⁸ for ^(D)in Him we live and move and have our being, ^(E)as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ ²⁹ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, ^(F)we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising.

A New Son

²⁵ And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and ^(A)named him ^[a]Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.” ²⁶ And as for Seth, ^(B)to him also a son was born; and he named him ^[b]Enosh. Then men began ^(C)to call on the name of the Lord.

The Family of Adam^(D)

5 This is the book of the ^(E)genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in ^(F)the likeness of God. ² He created them ^(G)male and female, and ^(H)blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. ³ And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son ^(I)in his own likeness, after his image, and ^(J)named him Seth.

²⁶ Then God said, ^(A)“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; ^(B)let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over ^[a]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” ²⁷ So God created man ^(C)in His own image; in the image of God He created him; ^(D)male and female He created them.
