³ and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Aram,^{(A) 4} and Aram the father of Aminadab, and Aminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, ⁵ and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, ⁶ and Jesse the father of King David.

And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah,^(B)

The Peaceful Kingdom

¹⁰ Ram became the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, prince of the sons of Judah.^{(A) 11} Nahshon became the father of Salma, Salma of Boaz, ¹² Boaz of Obed, Obed of Jesse. ¹³ Jesse became the father of Eliab his firstborn, Abinadab the second, Shimea the third,^{(B) 14} Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, ¹⁵ Ozem the sixth, David the seventh;

¹⁸ Now these are the descendants of Perez: Perez became the father of Hezron,^{(A) 19} Hezron of Ram, Ram of Amminadab, ²⁰ Amminadab of Nahshon, Nahshon of Salmon,^{[a] 21} Salmon of Boaz, Boaz of Obed, ²² Obed of Jesse, and Jesse of David.

²² When he had removed him, he made David their king. In his testimony about him he said, ‘I have found David, son of Jesse, to be a man after my heart, who will carry out all my wishes.’^{(A) 23} Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised;^(B)

¹⁶ When all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people answered the king,

So Israel went away to their tents.^(A)

³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the earth, neither you nor your kingdom shall be established. Now send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.”

¹² The one who presented his offering the first day was Nahshon son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah;
