The Baptism and Genealogy of Jesus^(A)^(B)

²¹When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying,^(C) heaven was opened ²²and the Holy Spirit descended on him^(D) in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son,^(E) whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”^(F)

²³Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry.^(G) He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph,^(H)

¹⁵Shouts of joy^(A) and victory
    resound in the tents of the righteous:
“The Lord’s right hand^(B) has done mighty things!^(C)
¹⁶    The Lord’s right hand is lifted high;
    the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
¹⁷I will not die^(D) but live,
    and will proclaim^(E) what the Lord has done.
¹⁸The Lord has chastened^(F) me severely,
    but he has not given me over to death.^(G)
¹⁹Open for me the gates^(H) of the righteous;
    I will enter^(I) and give thanks to the Lord.
²⁰This is the gate of the Lord^(J)
    through which the righteous may enter.^(K)
²¹I will give you thanks, for you answered me;^(L)
    you have become my salvation.^(M)

²²The stone^(N) the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone;^(O)
²³the Lord has done this,
    and it is marvelous^(P) in our eyes.
²⁴The Lord has done it this very day;
    let us rejoice today and be glad.^(Q)

²⁵Lord, save us!^(R)
Lord, grant us success!

²⁶Blessed is he who comes^(S) in the name of the Lord.
    From the house of the Lord we bless you.^[a]^(T)
²⁷The Lord is God,^(U)
    and he has made his light shine^(V) on us.
With boughs in hand,^(W) join in the festal procession
    up^[b] to the horns of the altar.^(X)
