The Ascension of Jesus

⁵⁰ When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany,^(A) he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

¹² Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem^(A) from the hill called the Mount of Olives,^(B) a Sabbath day’s walk^[a] from the city.

¹⁷ And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany,^(A) where he spent the night.

²³ “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless^(A) the Israelites. Say to them:

²⁷ “So they will put my name^(H) on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

²⁸ All these are the twelve tribes of Israel,^(A) and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, giving each the blessing^(B) appropriate to him.

⁵ Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people^(A)—that is, from their fellow Israelites—even though they also are descended from Abraham. ⁶ This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed^(B) him who had the promises.^{(C) 7} And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater.

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King^(A)(B)

11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany^(C) at the Mount of Olives,^(D) Jesus sent two of his disciples,

¹⁶ And he took the children in his arms,^(A) placed his hands on them and blessed them.

⁹ “They are the sons God has given me here,”^(A) Joseph said to his father.

Then Israel said, “Bring them to me so I may bless^(B) them.”
