³⁷ But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!

²⁶ When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!”

²⁷ But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!^[a]”

¹³ “Don’t be afraid!” the king told her. “What do you see?”

“I see a god^[a] coming up out of the earth,” she said.

¹⁵ “You’re out of your mind!” they said. When she insisted, they decided, “It must be his angel.”

³⁰ “The rich man replied, ‘No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.’

⁴⁹ but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. ⁵⁰ They were all terrified when they saw him.
