³⁷ They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.^(A)

¹⁵ “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.”^(A)

³⁰ “‘No, father Abraham,’^(A) he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

⁴⁹ but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost.^(A) They cried out, ⁵⁰ because they all saw him and were terrified.

Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”^(B)

²⁶ When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,”^(A) they said, and cried out in fear.

²⁷ But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage!^(B) It is I. Don’t be afraid.”^(C)

¹³ The king said to her, “Don’t be afraid. What do you see?”

The woman said, “I see a ghostly figure^[a] coming up out of the earth.”^(A)
