Now when Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean. And when he learned that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to (A)Herod, who himself also was in Jerusalem in those days.

Jesus Before Herod

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he rejoiced greatly; for (B)he had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had been hearing about Him and was hoping to see some [a]sign performed by Him. And he questioned Him [b]at some length, but (C)He answered him nothing. 10 And the chief priests and the scribes were standing there, vehemently accusing Him. 11 And Herod with his soldiers, after treating Him with contempt and mocking Him, (D)dressed Him in a bright robe and sent Him back to Pilate. 12 Now (E)Herod and Pilate became friends with one another that very day; for before they had been enemies with each other.

Jesus before Herod

Hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean. When he learned that Jesus was from Herod’s district, Pilate sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time. Herod was very glad to see Jesus, for he had heard about Jesus and had wanted to see him for quite some time. He was hoping to see Jesus perform some sign. Herod questioned Jesus at length, but Jesus didn’t respond to him. 10 The chief priests and the legal experts were there, fiercely accusing Jesus. 11 Herod and his soldiers treated Jesus with contempt. Herod mocked him by dressing Jesus in elegant clothes and sent him back to Pilate. 12 Pilate and Herod became friends with each other that day. Before this, they had been enemies.
