³⁹ One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”^(A)

⁴⁴ In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

³² Let this Messiah,^(A) this king of Israel,^(B) come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

³⁵ The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him.^(A) They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”^(B)

³⁷ and said, “If you are the king of the Jews,^(A) save yourself.”

³⁴ I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. ³⁵ Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”^(A)
