³⁴ And Jesus said, “Father, ^(A)forgive them, ^(B)for they know not what they do.”^[a] And they cast lots ^(C)to divide his garments.

⁴⁴ But I say to you, ^(A)Love your enemies and ^(B)pray for those who persecute you,

⁶⁰ And ^(A)falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, ^(B)“Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, ^(C)he fell asleep.

^9 (A)Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, ^(B)bless, for ^(C)to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.

²⁰ For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But ^(A)if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. ²¹ For ^(B)to this you have been called, ^(C)because Christ also suffered for you, ^(D)leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. ^22 (E)He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. ^23 (F)When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, ^(G)but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

^14 (A)Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

²⁷ “But I say to you who hear, ^(A)Love your enemies, ^(B)do good to those who hate you, ^28 (C)bless those who curse you, ^(D)pray for those who abuse you.

⁸ None of ^(A)the rulers of this age understood this, for ^(B)if they had, they would not have crucified ^(C)the Lord of glory.
