³³ When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.

²² They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). ²³ Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh,^(A) but he did not take it.

¹⁷ Carrying his own cross,^(A) he went out to the place of the Skull^(B) (which in Aramaic^(C) is called Golgotha). ¹⁸ There they crucified him, and with him two others^(D)—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

²⁴ “He himself bore our sins”^(A) in his body on the cross,^(B) so that we might die to sins^(C) and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”^(D)

³² This took place to fulfill what Jesus had said about the kind of death he was going to die.^(A)

³³ They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”).^{(A) 34} There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall;^(B) but after tasting it, he refused to drink it.

Mourning for the One They Pierced

¹⁰ “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit^[a](A) of grace and supplication.^(B) They will look on^[b] me, the one they have pierced,^(C) and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child,^(D) and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.^(E)

²³ you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight.^(A) Be sure to bury^(B) it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.^(C) You must not desecrate^(D) the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

¹² And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate^(A) to make the people holy^(B) through his own blood.^{(C) 13} Let us, then, go to him^(D) outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.^(E)
