³⁵ Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals,^(A) did you lack anything?”

“Nothing,” they answered.

⁹ “Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts^(A)— ¹⁰ no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep.^(B)

⁴ Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

³ He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.^(A)

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

²⁹ And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. ³⁰ For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father^(A) knows that you need them.^{(B) 31} But seek his kingdom,^(C) and these things will be given to you as well.^(D)

⁸ These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. ⁹ Wear sandals but not an extra shirt.

³¹ So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³² For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.^{(A) 33} But seek first his kingdom^(B) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.^(C)
